This serial had & has a great opportunity to be informative about what's in the scriptures, given that few serials really have been made recently on either Mahadev or Adi Shakti, and since Parvati is an integral part of Mahadev, stories about Ma Durga, Ambika, Mahakali & Bhadrakali deserve full coverage, and not just be a sideshow. The CVs of this serial have done a good job in gathering stories from different sources, which is enlightening, but they need to do a better job putting them all together.
In the event that different sources have different account of the same (although I admit I don't know how different DSS is from Devi Bhagvatam or from Devi Purana), they could blend them and have minute variations to the narration. In fact, given the number of enemies that they fought, I wouldn't have minded it being dragged over ~ a week - one day per one or two demons. Or even rush it, if they want. But totally distorting the story - having Shumbha & Nishumbha decide not to go after Ambika after Dhoomralochan gets killed - W🤬F? In the process, they made Dhoomralochan & Raktabheej stand out as heros, who got sacrificed and their masters just chickened out in response.
This serial has an awesome cast of the leads - Mahadev, Sati/Adi Shakti, Parvati/Durga/Mahakali, now Kartikeya, Nandi, Vishnu, Indra, Tarakasura. But while that does a good job pulling TRPs, that alone doesn't justify a mediocre script. There are stories from all over the place, and having a story from place X that's not there in place Y is ok. What's not okay is breaking the compatibility of the serial w/ religious tradition as practiced, be it in Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Jagadhatri Puja or any of the other festivals that are centric on these events.
It's sad that such major events, such as the incineration of Kamadev, the marriage of Sati and now the introductions of Durga & Kali, have been so botched. CVs, please take the original stories seriously and follow them as closely as possible, and not distort such major stuff as Shumbh & Nishumbh backtracking. Sometimes, minor distortions can be funny, but major ones like this are seriously irritating.
