Poor tarakasur,

such a great shiv bhakt is being shown so blatantly against his own mahadev, its really bad that asurs are just used a pawn to create some drama.

they are also bhakt of mahadev and should be accorded due respect. he never even thought any ill of mata parvati. but these CVs make him blatantly anti shaivaite..

@Krishna-the thing in mythos and thier interpretation is that even grey charcters are made completely black...and mostly its the asurs, rashas and the daityas who are made that way...
Ravana was a very learned man, even a Big Shiva Bhakt-but still he is portrayed as entirely vile..
similarly Prakyapati Daksha too wasnt as bad as they showed him in the show...
Indian TV cannot digest grey characters-they either have to be completely white or completely black!
sad..but true!

So true, but may be with coming generations that would change as the audience becomes more and more self aware.

It seems to be going the opposite way...we seem to be going from complex and challenging to simplistic & banal...forgive the pessimism about the human condition. This "dumbing down" of culture seems to be a global phenomenon...

hope so-personally i love grey characters..
infact i dont know i you remeber but Tarkasur was shwon to be a shiv bhakt in the beginning of the show-who was actually happy to know of Shivas impending marriage to Sati-then he truned into a grey character!

Yes actually, magnanimity of Tarakasur can be gauged by the fact that, he never interfered in any way in the tale of Mahadev and Parvati even though he was ruling entire universe at that time.

I just hate how these demons are demonized 😈

As I pointed out in another thread, Indra was far more evil. The asuras did their conquests exactly as the devas wanted to and did when they were powerful. Vishnu, for somewhat unconvincing reasons, chose to support them even when they were in the wrong.

Tarakasura was a Shiva bhakt, and had they gone w/ the Surapadman version of this, Surapadman & Simhamukha ended up as vehicles of Mahakali and Kartikeya - they were made immortal. If they were as evil as depicted, why would Mahadev or Kartikeya give them such blessings?

In fact, w/ the exception of Prahlad, Virochan and Bali, all the asuras and rakshashas were Shiva bhakts. Even Bali's son Banasura switched from Vishnu to Shiva on account of the way his father was deceived by Vamana. In fact, the list of demons killed by Mahadev or Durga or Kartikeya are few in number - Tarakasura, the Tripura demons, Mahishashur, Bhimasura... Anyone recall any others?

I actually want to see how the Tripura story is shown, if they choose to show it. Essentially, it was Tarakasura's sons who lived in 3 different cities that were always skewed, and which were perfectly aligned in a straight line once in ____ years (as usual, I forget the number), and Shiva was approached to destroy those cities simultaneously on such an occasion. But I am curious - what exactly was the egregious thing they did that caused Mahadev to destroy them?
