I too wondered about it long ago. All the pandavas were trained to use all the weapons. Bhima chose the mace just like Hanuman did. Each of the Pandavas chose the weapon they were best with. Maybe its because Yudhishtra inherited more brains than muscles from his father 😉 - just kidding.

no kidding, i mean truly there are really very few examples of him fighting valiantly. Bheem was more of muscle power and arjuna of aim and the younger ones too, he was more like the think thank. Only problem too much righteousness in think thank. Thats why they needed a lord K as a advisor think thank.
