It's true that Ganga hadn't descended on earth, but neither had Sage Agastya drunk up the ocean. So that area was probably still in reasonably close proximity to the coastline (even allowing for the alteration in the coastlines), and so if her toe fell in Kalighat, it couldn't have been a desert.

Actually, even w/o the Ganga being there, I doubt that AryaVarta was desert land at the time. And Gandhara was a mountainous region like it is even now, and the Thar desert may or may not have existed.

On the issue of Tarakasura above, I think that he lived after the demise of Sati, and tormented the devas after he got that boon. But even if he lived during the time of Sati and got the boon that he'd only be killed by Shiva's son, I doubt that he'd try going after Sati. But I agree - what they showed in the part about him and Sati was poorly thought out.

Anyway, hope that he conquers Devalok, so that the devas get to regret their slight of Mahadev.

I agree, it's not likely it was a desert at any point. I just pointed out that using the river Ganga is faulty logic since she hadn't descended to Earth at the time. Your argument works better. 👍🏼

Yeah in the scripture and legends Tarakasur usually emerges long after Sati's death and he didn't have to worry about Shiva's son or wife at all. But here they've taken the strange decision to make him a contemporary of Sati. And when you do that, he's in a situation where the possibility of death is staring him in the face. So it kind of makes sense that he would worry about that but I think they went overboard with it.

BTW, the actor playing Taraksur also played Lord Shiva and Hanuman years ago on Jai Hanuman. It's a bit funny seeing him now as Shiva's enemy.

Gabbar temple's info says her heart had fallen & the list of 51 SP says her heart fell in Vaidyanath.

Have they mentioned what number (of Shakti Peeths) they are going with? Because it varies.

Some also classify the peeths into maha-peeths and upa-peeths.

They have just mentioned Shakti peethas, seeing their love to deviate from the original story, they may show 18 or 51. But all her body parts are powerful so calling some as main & others as up-peethas...
Let's see what they show finally.

As Paundrak he looked like a cartoon, here with Tarakasur he will stay for a long time.
Asuras know they are not as strong as Devas, so they try to get power by doing penance. At least they work hard. Devas are hardly seen doing penance, except Shivji & Vishnuji, sometimes Indra.
Sati had told at the yagya time, all the Devatas present here will have to pay for their act of being a silent viewer. So this will be their punishment.

I agree. The asuras would at least do penance, and fight hard and work hard for their success. It's a pity that a lot of them let that success go to their heads, but that happens w/ the best of us. But the devas - whenever I see them, their courts seem to be theaters, where everyone is seated in his place and some apsaras are dancing for their entertainment. Oh, and soma/sura flow freely - doesn't sound much different from the college parties I used to see every weekend in the US.

The other thing about the asuras is that they fought their own wars and everything, whereas devas, being the losers that they were, would always ask Narayan or Mahadev or Durga or Ayappan or Kartikeya or Muchkund or Dasharath or whoever else to fight their wars for them. A complete bunch of freeloaders.

Ok I rewatched the last part of the episode. It is definitely her toe not her heart or brain.

It seems to be her left toe, not the right toe. It is the right toe which fell in Kalighat. The left one fell in Rajasthan if I'm right. So that probably explains the desert setting.
