As far as my knowledge is concerned Vishnu and Bramha tried to calm Veerbhadra but failed so then they worshipped Adishakti and prayed for her help. It was only after that Mahadev returned to normalcy.

Online Shivpuran says Bhadrakali was also with Veerbhadra. She tossed his head like a football. Devi Puran mentions only Veerbhadra.

Let's see what the writer's puran says😆 We will see ultimately that version.😆
