CHAPTER1:
The car sped through the high ways at its maximum speed limit. Manyata sat on the back seat of the car gazing through the window. On the other side of her, her mother Komal sat, holding her hand tightly. On komal's left side sat her grandmother. Manyata sat staring blankly outside the window, not really aware of anything that was happening around her. She did not feel the tight grip of her mother's fingers whenever the car turns on a bend or when its tires screeches on the road because of the sudden brakes the driver had to apply in order to avoid the occasional reckless drivers who were trying to overtake and zoom past their vehicle. Neither does she hear the intermittent murmur of something her DS was telling her mother and her mother's polite reply to that.
Only one thing was going through her mind. Round and round one word weBecause, trying to understand what had happened, and to talk about it meant that she had to live the moment and go through the hurt over and over again. But despite not wanting it, on her mind, that one word kept on reverberating through her mind. Why? Why Uday? Why? But she had no answer to that. And she had no answer as to why she was even asking that question. Does it matter why he did it? The truth is that he had killed Akash isn't it? For so long, she had wanted to know what had happened to Akash, and she has finally found out the truth. But the thought had never crossed her mind that when she finally finds out about Akash he could be dead. And she had never imagined that the day she finds out about Akash would be a day in which she had to deal with so many emotions. And right now, those emotions have made her numb. She did not want to think of what has happened. She did not want to understand what has happened.Because trying to understand what has happened and to talk about it means that she had to live the moment and go through the hurt over and over again. But despite not wanting it, on her mind that one word kept on reverberating. Why? It was just one word but that one word was connected to many questions for which she needed answers. They are answers to all the questions that might have brought some calmness to the turbulent sea of her uncontrollable emotions. Why did he do it? Why did her sister try to kill her? Why did the supposed to be most beautiful day of her life so far, end with her heart breaking into million pieces? These were some of the why s to which she needed answers.
And then finally even though she did not want to think of it, she started to remember what had happened on the day of her coronation. Like a bad nightmare that one did not want to remember but still do in the morning's reality, the events of that day started to replay in her mind. It made her shiver and a tremor went through her body. Her mother thought that she was feeling cold and asked the driver to turn off the AC. She could not realize that it wasn't the cold of the AC which was making her daughter shiver.Manyata remembered the morning of her coronation and how happy she felt when she opened her eyes that morning, the bright sunlight streaming through her windows made her smile widely. Regardless of the snake fiasco she had to deal with on the previous night, she had surprisingly slept well and all through the rituals of her bath and her makeup and dressing she had felt an unknown kind of calmness and peace. She did not realize that it was something akin to the calmness of the sea that occurs before a storm. And she wondered why? Then she thought that it was because she had finally accepted her destiny and who she was. She had accepted that she was indeed the favored daughter of the royal family of Devgar and that she was the born heir to everything that the family has. She was the first born child of her parents and the crown princess. And along with her final realization of the truth, she had also accepted the huge responsibility that was being put on her young shoulders as the Yuvrani of Devgar. She knew that she had not acted very maturely in the past. But she was young and naive and stubborn like any other young girl at that age was.
'But who says a person cannot change?' she thought to herself.
And sitting in front her dressing table, dressed in the beautiful outfit of her coronation, she finally felt like the princess that she truly was. Yes she is princess Manyata, the soon to be crowned 'crown princess' of Devgar. Thinking of this made her smile and she started to think of the most important person who had made this possible. The one who had always addressed her as 'Princess'. How could she not think of him at such a moment? He was the reason why she was sitting there dressed this way and looking so beautiful. The reason why she had started to believe that she was worthy of becoming the Yuvrani and in what she was capable of doing. He had made her believe that she was no less than any other royal person. And his strong belief in her had made her believe in herself.
SCROLL DOWN PLS...
She remembered how she had hated him in the earlier days and how he eventually became her closest friend and ally throughout all the fights she had with her family and her bid to win the crown. Then the thought came to her mind that she had not even thanked him for everything that he had done for her. She knew that a simple phrase 'thank you' was not enough for what he did for her. But then she did not know what else that she could give him as a token of her appreciation. And she decided that the first thing that she would do after coronation would be to thank him. And she smiled in anticipation of the moment she would be crowned, of the moment she would thank Uday and of the moment when she would finally bask in the pride her DS would feel for her and the happiness of her whole family. She had never anticipated the events that unfolded just few minutes later and the hurt and betrayal that she felt. How could she have? She had no inclination as to what the truth was. And she did not see or feel anything that would make her suspect of what her younger sister was scheming against her. She was too innocent or you may call it naive to realize that one attempt had already been made on her life in the form of that snake.
She had always known that her sister Jainandini did not like her. She had known that J felt jealous of her and felt that she had taken what was rightfully J's, including the favors of Yuvraj Udayveer Singh. But she was not able to estimate the extent of her sister's hatred towards her. Hence it would have never even occurred to her that her sister might try to cold bloodedly murder her. In fact, prior to that day's events if somebody had told her that her sister was trying to kill her, she would not have even believed it because she herself can never harm her sister that way. Beneath all her catfights with her sister lay a sister's bond and affection, and rather than bringing any harm to her, she would have protected her sister from any harm. So the bite that she took from the apple her sister brought for her, she took with gratitude thinking of it as a good deed her sister did for her on that special day of hers. Had she read fairy tales in her childhood would it have occurred to her then that the bite she was taking could be the last bite of her young life? No it would not have occurred to her because she trusted her sister and believed her to be just like her. That was, a good soul perhaps trapped in the body of a little bit selfish, stubborn, pretentious and immature girl, trying to beat the demons within her and become a mature, loving and kindhearted girl, of whom her family and her Riyasat would one day be proud of.
When Udayveer was trying to bring her into consciousness, her semiconscious mind did not know what had hurt her most - The betrayal of her sister or the betrayal of her best friend, whom she had trusted much more than her sister and on whom she depended so much? And for a second she wanted to give in to the deep sleep that was threatening to engulf her so that she could forget the conversation that took place between her sister and her trusted best friend.
But no, her best friend was too adamant on bringing her back to life and back to his world, a world full of scheming people like himself and her sister. And when he finally succeeded in reviving her she was too weak to ask him anything or to confront him. So she could only nod and say yes when he told her that she has to go for her coronation as time was running out. But she later wondered why she let him take her to the coronation when she knew that he wanted her to achieve that crown so that he could marry her and claim Devgar. Yes she had heard him say that he loves her but under the circumstances she could not believe it. She also knew the fact that it was because of him that she was alive. But all she could see behind his actions was an ulterior motive which she believed was his selfishness. She was unable to comprehend that it was his love which saved her almost from death and brought her back into life.

chapter1 contd...
She also remembered J telling Uday that he had killed someone for the sake of love and so did she. And she wondered what kind of people Uday and J were. She couldn't understand how anyone can kill a person in the hope of gaining the person he or she loved. And she did not understand how anyone can be so ruthless. May be that was how royals act and how her ancestors also behaved. But she could not accept that.
Manyata was still lost in her thoughts as their car entered the gates of their Mahal.
"Manyata beta we have reached home" komal said shaking her hand lovingly.
She came out of her thoughts and realized that her DS was already standing outside and had opened her side of the car door so that she could get out. She then moved out of the car and started walking towards the entrance as if in a trance.
Komal kept on staring at her receding back, with a worried expression on her face.
"Let her go komal. Let her be alone for some time. This is the biggest jolt of her life and it will take some time for her to come out of this". DS told Komal in a soft voice.
"Yes Akash's death has really shattered her isn't it? I hope she comes out of this soon." Komal said with the same worried expression still on her face.
"Not Akash's death Komal. The betrayal of Uday, that's what, has shattered her." DS replied
Komal stared at DS in surprise and Manyata who was climbing the last few stairs halted for a second hearing what her DS said. She wondered why her DS said that but then she quickly let go of the thought and climbed the two remaining stairs and headed towards her room..
End of chapter 1.. hope you all like this.
As Udayveer stood behind the bars of the jail only one word can describe what he was feeling - Rage. Rage at J for finally almost succeeding in her master plan. She has not succeeded in killing Manyata so her plan did not come to full fruit but she has finally managed to cause so much hatred in Manyata's heart towards him and he did not know whether he could regain Manyata's trust and good wishes ever again. He was also feeling rage at himself. For being selfish and not telling Manyata the truth of what has happened between him and Akash. He realized that he should have understood earlier that no matter how much you try, nothing in this life can be kept as a secret. There is way and when all the skeletons in the cupboard get revealed. But at the same time he was also feeling rage towards Manyata for believing J and trusting J when J had tried to kill her. She has believed J so easily and not even asked from him for an explanation or whether what j was telling was the truth...
