Chapter 3 : Mansi to Manyata

Ds (thinks) teeke Manyata we'll take you to Murari. Not for you to meet your father but so that you know who is your father.

Ds to Mansi: Okay we'll take you but on one condition. Tell us about yourself and your so called family. Uday tells me that you have got a scholarship in his college. Where did you do your studies?

Mansi: No idea why you want to know all this. But since you told me that you'll take me to papa I'll let you know. I did my schooling in banaras. I lived there with my bua ji's family. And I am planning to take up the course in physics in jaigarh college. Akash bhaiya is also working in the same college.

Ds : Okay fine Manyata. We'll take you to Murari

Mansi : For the last time I'm Mansi and not Manyata.

Ds doesn't respond to that. She silently thinks ' who tho you'll get to know after meeting Murari.

Ds to uday : beta aap Manyata ko lekar police station jaayiye.. Murari kudh abh saare sachayi Manyata se kahga.

Uday : Jee Daadi saa. So princess, shall we leave.

Mansi: Aap sab log kyon muje alag alag naam dena chahte ho. Whatever lts go

At the police station, Murari confesses the entire truth to Mansi and tells her that she is Rajkumari Manyata and not his daughter.

Mansi is shattered knowing the truth. Uday tries to console her but she remains silent.

Mansi : Uday chalo Mahal jaate hain

Murari : Mansi hamare pure baat tho sun lo beta

Mansi: Ab kahne ke liye kuch nahi bacha hai papa. Nahi maaf kijiye, Murari ji.

Murari gets shocked at the way Mansi addresses him and becomes speechless

Uday takes Mansi and makes her sit in the car and drives back to the mahal

On the way Mansi remains silent n uday tries to make her talk

Uday: Princess, kyon chup ho gayi. Kuch bolo na. At least ham pe chillavo

Mansi looks at him and turns back to face the window.

Uday: Teeke agar chup rahegi toh hum tumhe wifey bulaaenge.

Mansi glares at him which makes uday shut up for the remaining journey

They reach the mahal, which has been decorated for welcoming their lost princess / rajkumari Manyata.

Mansi gets down and is confused looking at the decorations. Uday takes her hand, she doesn't resist him. He leads her to the entrance, where komal was waiting with the aarti taali.

When they reach Komal almost cries and does the aarti to welcome her daughter who has returned after 14 years. After doing it she hands over the plate to Seema ji and hugs Mansi and kisses her forhead.

Mansi was surprised by her act but she felt happy when Komal hugged her. She felt as if she was hugging someone too close to her. So she dint resist.

Ds: Rajkumari Manyata yeh hai Maharani Komal aapki maa.

Komal : beta itne saalon aapke bina bahut mushkil se jiya hai beta. Mahal me sab kuch tha par aapke bina in sab cheejo ka koi matlab nahi tha hamare liye.

Komal's words brought tears in Mansi's eyes.

Ds : Manyata aapke pitaji Maharaj Brigeraj Singh se aashirvaad le leejiye.

Mansi bends down, but brigeraj pulls her into a hug..

Brigeraj : Aapko dekhar hame bahut kushi ho rah hai beta.

Ds then introduce Mansi to everyone at the mahal. Yeh hai Vijayendra sigh aapke bhayi. Yeh hai Rajkumari Jaynandhini aapki choti behan. Aur yeh hai aapki bua ji Menaka.

Mansi remains silent during the entire scene with her hands in namaskar position and just making gestures.

Ds : Manyata beta ab aap hamare saat chaliye.

She takes Manyata to her study.

Ds.: beti Manyata, so now do you agree with me?

Mansi: haan (in a very low voice)

Ds: Aap ek rajkumari hai. Aapko aage jaakar Devgarh ki yuvrani banni hogi.. Iske liye aapko bahut mehnat karna padega.

Mansi doesn't say anything

Ds continues: I will be arranging classes for you. You will be having home tutors teaching you various subjects like history ie about your ancestors, affairs of the stare, economics, business administration, Carnatic music, classical dance, western music and dance. I know this is your first day in the mahal. But the reason why am telling this to you is that you have to prepare yourself mentally for these. Devgarh is in a bad situation. The mahasabha has announced its final decision that we have to have the crowning ceremony of the yuvrani within 5 months. It is indeed a blessing for Devgarh that you have been found at the right time. I know this will be difficult for you but we are born for this. We need to make the impossible possible. You are a strong and brave girl. I know that you can do it. Since we have very less time your lessons will start form tomorrow.

And before that you have to accept the fact that you are rajkumari Manyata. You have to forget the name given by Murari Lal.

Manyata: I agree that I am not Murari's daughter and am Manyata but whatever you are saying sounds frightening. I don't want all these classes. And I don't understand why you can make the other rajkumari a yuvrani. Why me?

Ds : You are the eldest heir of the family. It is your right. We cant make your younger sister a yuvrani when you are ther. Moreover we need someone who can understand the common people to rule the state. So there can be no one better for that than you who has been brought up among common men. The state doesn't want an arrogant spoilt princess as its yuvrani but a soft humble mature princess

Manyata: Forgive me Rajmata but you don't know anything about me. You have seen me only yesterday and you seem to find me suitable for becoming devgarh's yuvrani.

Ds: beti Manyata my age is like that. I don't need to spend months or years with people to know their character and personality, few hours is more than enough. Actually few minutes, but I usually don't reach to any conclusion before thinking about it and confirming again and that's why it takes few hours. People don't become the rajmata of an empire just like that child, it is because of our experience and expertise that we have been bestowed this title

Manyata: I don't know whether I will be able to do all this Rajmata.

Ds: We are rajwadas Manyata we cant give up on things so easily. How can you even say that you wont be able to do it before even trying it. And also stop calling me rajmata. I am the rajmata for others but for you and our family I am Daadi saa.

Manyata nods silently.

Ds: Seema ji yahaan aayiye. Rajkumari ji ko apna kamara dika deejiye

Seema ji: Jo hokum Rajmata. Rajkumari ji ayiye aapka kamara tayar hai.

They go to Manyata's room. Manyata is surprised looking at the room's exotic finish.

Seema : Rajkumari ji aap aaram keejiye. Agar aapko kizi bee cheej ki zaroorath pade tho hame bula lena

Manyata: Haan aap jaa sakthe hain.

Komal enters after Seema leaves the room.

Komal : Manyata, how do you like your room. Do you want anything else?

Manyata : It is beautiful ji.

Komal : Can I request you to do something? Will you call me maa. Itne saalon se yeh dhin dekne ke liye taras gaye the beta.

Manyata : Maa muje maaf kijiye. I can see that all of you care for me and have missed me a lot in these years. But Maa, yeh sab muje bahut hee ajeeb lag rahi hai. All of a sudden I have become a princess, I have got a large family and an empire. I am starting to feel scared Maa. Will I be able to live upto all of your expectations. Will I become a worthy yuvrani as Rajmata ji wants me to. Kitne ajeeb hai na ma. All these years I used to wish that I become a princess somehow. Now when am one let alone being happy I am actually scared. After all with such titles comes great responsibilities which none of us realize.

Komal : beta, I am so happy today. You have not only called me your maa but you are also sharing your feelings with me which means you consider me ur mom. I never expected you to accept me so soon.

Manyata: Maa aap kaise baate kar rahi hai.

Komal: Let me speak Manyata. So ya you are worried about whether you will live upto our expectations. Havent you see how you have not just satisfied my expectations by calling me maa but you have also done something which I dint expect you to. Likewise am sure my daughter is brave and strong enough to be successful in everything and exceed everyone's expectations. You will surely become a great yuvrani. That day isn't far.

Manyata: Maa I love you. I was feeling horrible before sometime and you have somletely changed my mood. I feel as if nothing is impossible. Your words are magical maa.

Komal laughs. Manyata comes and hugs her. Mother and daughter share a beautiful moment.

Komal: It has become late manyata go to sleep

Manyata: Yeh sab tho ek daravna sapna jaisa hai ma so I thought am sleeping already

Komal (holds manyata's ears): Acha tho we all are a nightmare for you haan?

Manyata: Aise nahi maa, wo.

Komal: Teeke manyata ham samaj sakthe hai. Ab aap so jaayiye.

Manyata sleep due to tiredness even though she is extremely confused at the moment

In the morning:

Manyata opens her eyes says "NOOO" and closes her eyes, rubs them and opens them again thinking it is a dream

Uday (chuckles): Princess ye koi sapna nahi hai. Everything before you is true so wake up now.

Manyata: Arey yaar I was thinking all this was a nightmare after I saw u but looks like everything is true. Oh gos dunno how my day is going to be I get to look at ur face first thing in the morning.

Uday starts laughing and says : This will be one of the best days in your life. After all you have looked at the charming face of Yuvraj udayveer singh.

Manyata: Aren't you so full of yourself. I agree you look good but you needn't take that to you head.

Uday: Nice to hear that. So even you agree I'm hot, sexy and irresistible.

Manyata: When the hell did I say all that? You are damn irritating, the biggest jerk I have ever met in life so far. Sube sube muje thang karne keliye aagaya. Huh

Uday: Thaang kaun karna chahta hai princess. I have just come to meet my wifey.

Manyata: Halkat veda. Yeh kya hai ab wifey and all?

Uday: Am your fianc princess, soon to be husband. (saying this he winks at her)

Manyata: Bakwas band kar uday. Please muje bachja de. Vaise hee main bahut pareshan hoon. My entire life has changed in one day. I have a family who has been missing me for several years and am finding it difficult to even recognize them. I don't know what my sister does or anything about my own brother

Uday leaves it there and decides not to tell her about their engagement as she is already in an extremely confused state. He starts explaining about her family.

Uday: Princess I will tell you about all of them. What is the problem. You will slowly get to know them. Vijay bhai is in college, doing 2^nd year in economics. He is famous for his sense of humour. Jay ie Jaynandhini is in her 11th grade. She loves partying and end up getting caught often for coming late by DS. She is dating Jagat.

Manyata: Oho she is still in school and she is dating someone already? Who is this jagat anyway and what does he do?

Uday: Jagat is the yuvraj of Pushkar, he is my cousin brother. So princess you are interested to know about everyone, wont you ask about me?

Manyata: Tere bare me kya poochon. I know that you are a halkat veda, kasmanu kana. Then I dunno if you even have a place of your own. Saare samay yaheen pe tapak padte ho.

Uday smirks : Every time how do you manage to use such colourful swear words for me. Anyway princess see you don't know anything about me too, you are asking if I have a place to live haan? So fyi, I am repeating it again I am the yuvraj of jaigarh. I have completed my degree in economics. I'll be joining MBA soon.

Manyata: Tum saare lo itne yeh economics ke peeche kyon pade ho? Don't you people know the other choices?

Uday is shocked as for the first time someone has mocked at his choices.

Uday: Princess I don't say anything to you but that doesn't mean you can criticize about everything. We are from royal families. We need to do courses that will be useful for managing the empire and our businesses. Not some molecular biology or nuclear physics which will make us slowly move away from the responsibilities we already have. I cant go and become some scientist leaving my empire princess.

Manyata notices that uday is actually offended.

Manyata: Sorry uday, I was just asking. Even daadi saa was saying one of my subjects will be economics. So have been hearing this subject too many times. That's why.

Uday : No problem princess. Sorry even I should not have spoken to you like that.

Manyata smiles. Uday gets lost in her smile.

Manyata: Uday, uday kya hua.

Uday : Kuch nahi pricess. Now shut up and get ready soon. You have to be at the breakfat table at 8.

Manyata: Huh you come and make me talk all this while and you ask me to shup up. Anyway all my clothes are in my bag which i left in the college. I dont even know if that bag will still be there. So i have nothing to wear right now.

Uday: You are a princess right now. You think you will be wearing the same clothes. We will have to get new ones for you.
Till that you can try the ones that are in your cupboard. Wear anything which you like.

Manyata: Now if you dont mind would you get out of the room?

Uday: Princess how rude. Here am helping you with everything right from giving you info about your family to your clothes and you are asking me to get out?

Manyata: Uffo uday. I need to bathe and get ready, so please.

Uday (chuckles) : Okay fine princess but get ready soon.

Uday gets up to go out of the room, comes back and removes Manyata's hair band making her hair fall on the shoulders.

Manyata stares at uday.

Uday: Kule baalon mein achi lagte ho princess, aise hee aana neeche. (he smirks seeing manyata's expressions and leaves the room)

Manyata's pov: urgh this smirk of his. What does he think of himself. Who is he to tell me how to keep my hair. Anyway even i like it open but how dare he removes my hair band.
