Chapter 4
She saw him sleeping cosily on the book! His hair blowing due to the speed wind by the fan beside him. He rested his head on his hands which were on the book. He frequently changed the position of his head and made him self comfortable. He snored a bit lightly. She shook her head.
"Sleepy head" she murmured.
She patted his head several times. Made attempts to wake him up several times, but he just Wouldn't get up, instead would make him self comfortable.
"Uday get up"
"Hmmm "
"Wat hmmm !!!! Get up na man"
"Five minutes"
"Udaaayyy"
"Hmmm let me sleep choti"
"Huh??? Choti!!!!!"
"Pls five only five"
"Rrr"
He comfortably slept on the books and after several attempts also manyata couldn't wake him up!! Instead each time she made an attempt to wake him up he cozied him self. She sat on a chair near to him and saw his face with her face on her hands which were resting on her knees. How could a person sleep so much and just not wake up!!! She sighed. She was tired herself. But if she did not wake him up then he would end up sleeping there itself on spoiling those "precious" books. When she was about to make an final attempt she saw him getting up! She sighed relieving. But he instead of getting up cozied himself by sitting and sleeping.
"Are u serious?? Ahhh!!! humph!"
She had it enough this guy is too hard to wake up. She went upto him and saw that he was smiling in his sleep . This just added fuel to the fire. She pulled the table and created more space between him and the table. She stood in between both and then just literally pushed him along with the chair. He just opened his eyes due to the sudden jerk he got but before he could catch any grip to save himself he was already on the floor with a thud.
"Hahahaha hahaha hahaha"
"Maggie!!!!!"
"Good job girl good job"
"Could u not wake me up more sweetly??" He said rubbing his eyes and stretching himself.
"Haha wat a joke!!! I tried to wake u up sweetly but u made me do it!!"
"How sweetly did u try??"
"I patted ur cheeks, whispered in ur eyes, pushed u back and forth but u did not get up!! I had no other choice!!"
"Maybe if u would kiss me I would have woken uuuppp!!" He said yawning.
He did not realise wat he actually spoke a moment ago but when both realised their eyes widen and they looked at each other.
"A part of speech in flow" he said defending himself.
"Yea right idiot"
"Btw why did u wake me up???"
"Oh I came to inform that I am going library will be closed in an hour at 9 and I have told the chief librarian Mrs. Bruganza that u are here so ok tata bye!!!"
She started walking towards the door.
"Ohhh wait wait wait!! I am coming with u!! I did enough for today and if I do more this will be the result so I am coming with u"
"Okay I don't mind!"
They walked back together. They met each day in the library. Uday even after his assignment came to study there and meet her. She studied as well worked. They went back together and sometimes went to the beach for a walk. They became really close to each other. They met either on his or her terrace which was like joined to one another and studied together. They would go to the temples there churches there. They talked hours together from their balcony.
Their families had come to know of this. They weren't opposing it. They had full trust on their kids. On the other hand Arushi and Aaron were trying to get Meghana and Ranveer together. They both were shy to talk or scared no one knew but that was what everyone except Adi and Jenny wanted. Adi didn't like Maggie and Uday hanging out and being so close. Jenny on the other hand couldn't see Maggie with Uday. She was scared that if Uday and Maggie got close it would not take much time for their "close" friendship to blossom into love.
Uday and Maggie just kept thinking on how to get Ranveer and Meghana together. They send them on friendship dates, coffee, dinner, but of no avail. They were still shy and hesitated to talk to each other. Everytime Maggie felt to bang her head to the wall when this happened. Somewhere in mid october when Uday and Maggie were studying on her terrace under the shed sitting comfortably on the sofa cum bed for their mid terms it did not take much time for uday to fall asleep. She sighed.
"This guy!!!!!"
"Get up Uday!!!!!!!"
She just pushed him of his place on the ground.
"Just once can u wake me up with love!"
"This is my style"
"Hahaha funny"
"Get up come with me!!!"
"Where?? That too at this time??"
"What is the time now??"
"Hmm 10:30 pm"
"So come!!!"
She literally dragged him with her and they went down from the front entrance stairs which was in the front compound for the terrace. They started walking. She took the lead. He was following her. After around 5 minutes of walking he took the courage to ask her where they were going.
"Arre wait na!! Actually to bhagaofy ur sleep!!"
"Ok so what medicine do u have??"
"Can't u just shut up for a few minutes??"
"Actually I aaammm(yawn) feeling sleepy"
"Hmm ok ok"
After a few minutes they reached near the gate of Sri Mahalasa Narayani Temple. Uday was kinda surprised.
"Why have we come here?? What to sit in the grass kya in the temple??"
"Nahi re come!!!"
"Where??"
"Here"
She pulled him with her into a small hotel cum chai stall. It looked just like in films. Those road side dhabas having those white tables with those white seats. Everyone there really very busy in their work. The waiters taking orders, the customers talking busily, and the most shocking thing was that that even if it was so late so many people were there. He just followed Maggie who had still not left his hand. Everyone was greeting her and she was greeting them back. They both sat on one of the tables in the corner.
Uday just kept staring at her. She was so ... So different. Not like the other girls he had met. She never liked to show off. She lived to the fullest. She did not care about others opinions. She was so simple and decent. She just wore those simple cute decent yet cool gowns. The same hairstyle. Her plaited or a ponytail to the side with some hair in the front parted in a sideway fashion and a matching hairband. Either those converse or flats or flipflops. She did wear indian and stuff but rarely and those were very simple. She just smiled and teased nearly everyone she could. She was lovable. She was caring loving sweet cool and everything. In these three to four months he lived with her she was like an open book. Never hid anything nor let anyone hide. She could easily read peoples heart and mind. She knew what they felt just by looking at them.
His thoughts were interrupted when he felt someone snapping fingers in front of him.
"Oh where are gone?"
"Nothing"
"So wat will u have??"
"I..."
"Wait let's have coffee and anything else??"
"Actually..."
"Yes that also!!"
"Huh??"
"Hey Prabhu maam doni kaapi mast strong sakara nakka ani rusk vai hadamana krishna ka"
(Hey Prabhu uncle two strong no sugar and tell krishna to bring rusk along with it)
"Which language was that??"
"U live in goa and u can't recognize konkani I mean seriously dude"
"No I can't "
"Ok so that was konkani"
"How do u know to speak??"
"For ur kind information my dad is a goan and from the past 21 years I am here only"
"Ya right!!"
"Very funny"
"So wat did u order??"
"Wait na u know u lack paitence?"
"Ya I know!"
"Ok now wait"
After a few minutes a small boy came with their order and Maggie gave him a poppins pack. He smiled kissed her and ran away.
"How cute!"
"Who??"
"The boy surely!!"
"Ok here have!!"
"Hmm ok"
"This is the best coffee in whole of goa after wat mom makes!! U won't get it anywhere!!!"
"Ok so I am eager to drink it"
Both of them take a sip of it.
"awwwkkk"
"Huh?? Wat??"
"No sugar!!"
"That's how u drink coffee idiot!!! Without sugar!! U get the best taste when it is bitter!! Then why do u think coffee is bitter god could give it sweetness na?? So drink and the stronger the coffee the longer u are awake" she said in a breath!
"What??"
"Just drink dammit!!"
He reluctantly took a sip of the coffee with disgust. He wanted to spit it out but Maggie looked at him with her eyes narrowed and signalled him with her finger to drink it and he just gulped it down. Thinking that he could not take it anymore she handed him a rusk.
"Here eat this either like this or dip it in the coffee and eat"
"Thanks!!"
That's ok"
"That's so much better"
They were silent for some time. Maggie drank the coffee bitter itself and he was shocked to see it!! Seriously this girl was from someother planet!! A normal human wouldn't drink such bitter coffee!
"Don't u think ranveer uncle and meghana maasi look good together??"
"Huh? What didn't get u?"
"I said that meghana maasi and ranveer uncle look so good with each other"
"Hmmm ya but they don't even become friends na just hello hi tata bye"
"Hmm ya what do we do now??"
"Study!"
"What!!!!"
"First our college Study then their case study"
"Or how about we do that side by side??"

"Hmm ok ok"
"Come challo chalte hain"
"Ok ok let's go"
Thay get up and manyata leaves a fifty rupees note on the table and with her hands signals someone to come.
"Palae amgele dudo deevnu magiri varlalae dudo tukka jayta ve??"
(Look after our payment what ever money is left is urs ok?)
"Jaayta!" the little boy nods and runs away.
They walk back home and sit to study.
Halfway studyong Maggie falls asleep on uday's lap (she was sleeping and reading and he too falls asleep. The next day they wake up and laughed thinking how they went to sleep. They go to get ready to their houses. Uday just crosses the parapet wall and goes to his terrace and Maggie smiles to herself.
"From today mission milado ran ne jo banayi jodi"
And she grinns.
So how was it??? long enough??
Sorry can't give longer that that!! am haVing a really hard time a school and home and that was te best could do!!
I come all tired and have a lot of study to do so forgive!!
