Chapter 4
"I will wait however long I need to for you to let me in."
Present day...
Afterdinner and manyata was sat in the parlour with her family having coffee.
"Manyata beta uday is coming back fromLondon today isn't he? Manyata? Manyata? Are you ok? Or are missing uday?"Her father teased her.
"No father my head is hurting." she turned to DS and asked her, "With your permission may I go to my room to rest?"
"Of course," DS replied.
Once manyata had left DS spoke to the rest family.
"I seem to be getting more worried about manyata everyday she doesn't seem to happy these day."
"NS, NS,NS! Your getting worried for no reason. Those lovebirds ,meaning uday and manyata bhai, are missing each other. Maybe he hasn't rang her or they had their first lovers tiff and her mind has several voices in her head saying W*F in a chorus like in my head. Love make people lose their mind."
"Vijay bhai your not in love and it seem like your losing your mind. How do you explain that." Jay questioned.
Everybody laughed.
"Jay bhai i am one of a kind and uday... speak of the devil he just walked in. Everybody listen to me. The first person he will look for is manyata once he realises she is not here he will ask for . If that doesn't happen I will wash the dishes after breakfast tomorrow without any glove, I tell you. OMG! What have I gotten myself into." Vijay had a terrified expression on his face.
"Kamma ghani , everybody. Uday greeted everyone.
He looked around and vijay burst out with a high pitched laugh.
"Are you ok vijay munna?"
"I feel perfect."
"Ookay. DS where is manyata?"
This time vijay was rolling on the floor laughing and the rest of the family was trying to stop themselves from laughing.
"What did I say? I tell you." vijay said between his laughing fits.
Uday looked around confused by everyone's expressions.
DS looked at uday and said, "Beta, she wasn't feeling well so went to rest. You may go and see her."
"Thank you DS."
He was about to walk up the stairs when,
"Uday, how was your stay in london?" maharaj brijraj asked.
"It was fine." He said. His eyes were glued to the stairs.
"Brijraj, we will ask Uday how his business trip went after he's seen manyata." Rajmata said.
Uday smiled at DS when she excused him from everyone's clutch knowing that he wanted to see manyata.
He walked up the stairs and towards her room. Uday knocked on her door and entered. She had dozed off on the sofa with a book in her hand. He walked towards brushed a strand of hair back which was in her face, picked her up and gently placed her on her bed. He kissed her forehead and her eyes fluttered open whilst he was moving back.
She smiled when she saw him.
"Uday, I thought you were -"
"In London, right? I was princess but my stay had finished there. It has been three and a half months."
"And I'm guessing you came here to hear my decision. But I will tell you tomorrow because right now I am very tired.
He was about to oppose to this idea when she said,"I promise tomorrow."
"What time, princess?"
"Dont worry about the time. I will find you. Ok now you can go and please let me go to sleep."
She fell asleep after mumbling the last few words. He placed the quilt over her and kiss her goodnight.
The next morning manyata went to DS's office.
"Good morning manyata."
"Good morning DS. I was hoping to ask you a question?"
"Yes of course do ask."
"DS, Where would Uday be now?"
"Probably in his hotel. Why are you planning to meet him?" She happy to see how Uday and manyata got on just fine these days instead of their continuous bickering.
"Yes DS. May I take your leave?"
She nodded and said, "Have fun."
"Thanks DS."
With she hugged her grandmother and left.
Meanwhile Uday was in his hotel, he came out of his penthouse and made his way towards the elevator.
Oh where is this elevator, he thought.
The lift finally came and he entered. It stopped a few floors below a below in stepped a familiar face and not a good one either.
Uday darling, how are you? Don't tell me you've forgotten me already. Remember our beautiful night together after Ranvijay's Masquerade Ball last year."
Nothing clicked in uday's mind but he knew she was a one of his one night stands and seem like the clingy sort.
"What do you want?" He asked her coldly.
"Now now darling, there's no reason to be like that." She stroked cheek. "I just came back for more."
All of a sudden she kissed him. The door to the elevators opened and he heard a gasp.
Manyata was stood in the lobby in front of him with tears threatening to burst.
She turn and walked (more run than walk) away whilst Uday shouted after.
"Princess. Wait. Manyata. Stop. Please."
"Who was that your fake fianc or was she your current girlfriend?" The girl smirked.
This girl was seriously getting on his nerves. Why did this have to happen today of all days, he thought.
"Security! Escort this woman out make sure she does not come on my property again. Get a restraining order saying something amongst the line she is NOT to come within a 100metre radius of me, the jaigarh family and the devgarh family. Do you understand?"
He stormed out of the lobby before he could reply and was making his way toward the devgarh palace. How would he explain this to manyata?
On the other hand, manyata had reached the palace. She ran past the sitting room sobbing. Her family were astonished by the change of her behaviour from this morning to now.
"Ma sahib, what could have possibly happened to manyata. She was happy this morning?" Komal inquired.
Suddenly, Uday ran past the sitting toward the direction of manyata's room.
"I think we have our answer. And should let nature take its course." DS said and silence fell upon the room. One by one they left to do what they had planned for the day.
"Princess." Uday said as he heard sobs from her room. He felt like his heart was being shattered in minuscule pieces. He turned the handle and saw her crouched down in the corner of her room looking vulnerable and fragile. He walked toward her. She looked up wiped her tears and got up. Fire was burning in her eyes.
"Princess please let me explain. I have change."
"You mean 'princess, let me lie to you so I can get out of this trouble to tell you I have changed.' No , I dont think so.Seeing you with your tongue down some girl's throat in the elevator of your hotel did not make me feel like you have changed from your old habits."
She turned to leave the room
"Princess, .."
He touched her arm and she shook it off.
"Don't touch me!
I don't know why but you breaking my trust hurts more than what akash and baba did. I was going to accept your proposal but when I saw ... .You know what I don't care because your a self-centred, self-obsessed jerk who doesn't think about anyone other than your precious self. And you bring shame upon royals. Stereotyping our generation of royalty to be into just three things. Drugs, alcohol and sex.I never want to see you again."
At the end of manyata's small speech she was not the only one raging and shaking with anger.
Uday grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the wall behind her. Her eyes widened with shock and pain. She tried to but move but he adamantly just held her there. Her wrist were throbbing with pain, tears slid down her cheeks.
"Uday please let me go. Your hurting me. Please."
She whimpered, her voice shaking.
He loosened his hold of her wrists slightly.
"Manyata, look at me, please."
When she wouldn't he pulled up the tip of her chin so she had to look into his eyes.
"Manyata I'm going to show you proof that I did not do anything wrong in the elevator?"
With that he pulled manyata out of her room, down the stairs and into his car. She struggled all the way and gave up when he tied her seat belt. Instead she looked out of the window. It was a very silent and awkward fifteen minute drive. He stooped the engine, got out of the car, went around and opened the door. She got out and he held her hand firmly. He took her into the back of the hotel. They walked for a while and reached their destination. A room with lots of flat screen tvs of every floor and every elevator from every visible angle in the hotel. He indicated towards the door and the five men sat on the chairs left.
He made manyata sit down and sat next to her. He found, rewinded and played the scene of the elevator. It showed everything that happened in the elevator and found the other clip of the coversation in the lobby after she had left. Once it finished he looked at her.
"Princess, now you must believe. I did nothing wrong. I would never hurt you. The only thing I was thinking whilst i got into the elevator was your answer to my question."
"Uday, I'm sorry I don't ever know what I said. It just came out of my mouth. I'm sorry."
"It okay. So the answer."
"Halkat veda. You have a one-tracked mind. You know that."
He smiled.
"Oh how I missed hearing that from your mouth."
"Your never gonna change for the better are you." Manyata said shaking her head.
"For you , never. So, your answer. Please make me happy. "
"Yes, yes and a million times yes."
They both stood up from their chairs smiling. She was about to turned when he pulled her toward him. His lips moved toward hers. And when their lips finally met there were fireworks and electrical currents bursting around and fizzing around them.
He pulled back.
"I think we better stop before I lose control."
"I never knew you could lose control yuvraj udayveer."
"And I didn't know you could flirt soon-to-be-mrs udayveer."
They stared into each others eyes until Uday broke the contact.
"I need to give you this now."
He brought the black box from his pocket. The same black box that she had seen three and half months ago. He opened it and she saw the most exquisite ring.
He was about to put it on her finger when she pulled it back.
"Not so fast we should tell our families that we are planning on getting married. "
