Chapter 7
We had both watched them go past us in their car. Aakash looked really happy, I have never seen him happy like that yet. It was really depressing to know that Aakash would rather ignore me and go out with Jay. He had promised me, but he was lying all along. Maybe even his dad being the head was a lie as well, maybe everything he had told me about him was a lie. But I didn't know why I had a feeling I still liked him. All I could think was about him, but why? Had Aakash poisoned my mind, or is Uday right about me loving him? No, it couldn't be true, after all I had only met him the other day.
I wiped my last tear, and just stared at the buildings opisite. Silence could be so peaceful at time, but then again they can be quite frightening. This silence had been caused because of Aakash's actions, neither Uday nor me wanted to comment about it. We just sat in silence for what seemed like hours. Then Uday drawed in a big breathe and said, "You know what Princess, I think I know what will cheer you up right now."
"Princess?" I asked him. Since when did he call that. Since when did anyone call me that...
**Flashback**
I used to have an older brother. He was so kind to me, he was so caring. He always tried to be there for me. Whenever I got hurt, he was there. Whenever I had acheived something great, he was there. I wouldn't have been able to live without him.
One day, I was riding my bike. I was probably 5 years old then. It was a really hot day and me and my brother decided to go cycling, and then get an ice cream. I was happily riding along, when I suddenly rode into a rock and fell off my bike.
"Princess what's wrong?" he asked me. I just sat there crying. "Oh princess, don't worry you'll be OK soon. Let your big brother help you with your knee."
I had scraped my knee, and it was bleeding. My brother had carried me all the way home, and had treated my knee. "Princess, don't cry over it. It was my fault, I'm sorry," he had told me.
"I know Chandan,"
**Present**
"Princess? You OK?" Uday shaked me.
"Oh yes, sorry. You reminded of my brother. I wish he was still alive," I told him, whispering the last part.
"What had happened to your brother?" He asked me.
"He died of cancer," I told him looking away. We were silenced again. But Uday broke it after a while.
"I'm sorry Manyata,"
"Don't worry, now how about you help me find that college?" I asked him. What was in the past stays in the past. I can't cry over my brother now, but that didn't mean that I didn't care about him.
"Sure, I'd be glad to help you," Uday told me, smiling. I couldn't help but smile back. He sure knew how to make me smile when I'm having a bad day. I followed him towards his car, and got into the passanger seat. "So, let's go to my college and see what we can get you," he told me smirking.
**
Uday and me had talked to the head. Turned out that Aakash had been lying, but I did get a place because the head was good friends with Uday's dad.
Considering that Aakash had been lying, I wonder what else he has been up to. I mean you wouldn't find a nice guy at a kidnappers hide out would you? But then someone could have told him that I was there, and he had decided to help me out. I wish I could know the truth.
I had got into Uday's car again. Uday got into the drivers seat and started the engiene. "Where we going now?" I asked him.
"Oh that's a suprise," he told me, grinning at himself. The thing I liked about Uday was that he liked suprising people. He was mysterious and probably has many secrets yet to reveal. It had taken me to find out about him being rich and all that by myself.
I stared outside the window thinking about everything that had happened today. I had been very happy this morning, but things can change so quickly. Jay is probably a person I could never put in my like list. Even though I've only seen her like only for a day, I could tell alot by her appearence. I didn't want to be judgemental, but everything about her made me hate her. But I guess I should be more positive, she could actually be a great person if I get to know her more.
"Princess- I mean Manyata, we're here," Uday told me. I looked at him, and then outside the window. I took my seatbelt off, and Uday opened the passenger door for me.
"Thank you," I told him. Uday was actually a really great person. He liked to seem tough and mean, but when he started caring about something, he seemed really nice. And today he had been really nice to me, not only was he there when I witnessed Aakash with Jay but he was also there to reassure me. I smiled at him when I found out where we were, and he returned me a smile.
"A posh restuant... why didn't I see this coming?" I asked him sarcasticly.
"Why, don't you like this place? I mean we could go somewhere else if you want..." He quickly replied, concerned.
"No Uday. it's perfect, I was only joking around with you, yaar," I jokingly told him. He smiled with a relief. A waiter came to us and guided us to our table. He gave us both a menu each and silently went. I looked at the menu, looking for my favourite dish, samosa chaat. I wasn't that hungry, but I didn't want to upset Uday. I laid my menu down, waiting for Uday to chose what he wants.
The waiter had come back again, and asked us what we had wanted. "Manyata, what would you like?" Uday asked me.
"Hmmm, I'd like a samosa chaat please," I told the waiter. The waiter quickly wrote it down and asked Uday what he had wanted. Uday answered back the same as me. "So do you always bring every girl here?" I asked him joking about.
"Nope, I only bring special ones," He told me smiling. I felt heat go upto my cheeks and instantly I knew I was blushing so I looked down. I noticed that Uday was staring at me. I quickly recovered and tried to change the subject, "How long have you own Aakash for?"
He seemed to tense up when I had said that. "I've known him for about a month. He used to live in your apartment, and had only recently started work in the store about 3 weeks ago," he told me honestly. Aakash had given up his apartment for me. Why would he do that for me anyway? Why me if he actually liked Jay more?
Soon the waiter had came back with our food. We quickly ate, and I had paid for the food. Well, that was what I thought, but then Uday had told me he had already paid ages ago. I was kind of annoyed, but got over it soon.
We then went back into the car, Uday told me that he had one special place he wanted to show me. Wherever this was, I knew I must have been really special, or else he wouldn't have taken me there with him.
