Hey DEK Diehards. đ¤
I hope everyone is doing well, and enjoyed this roller coaster of a week in terms of events on the show.đ
I watched yesterday's episode and don't get me wrong, I loved it...I think it had a lot to offer and was laying down the ground work for a long time. But what had me confused was Akash.
Really confused.đ
Like, mind-blasting confused.đł
Seriously, what is up with Akash?đ¤
His attitude is suddenly so different- I'm not saying fighting for what you want it wrong. Do it, fight for it.đđź
But he now has this air of superiority and arrogance that is...
i. Surprising
ii. Contradictory
iii. And a tad bit hypocritical
What I mean by this is that Akash's initial Character was:
Sweet, down to earth, hardworking etc.
On numerous occasions he has stated that Udayveer and the Royals are stuck up, arrogant and feel self-entitled.
Oddly enough, his actions over the last few days are reflecting the very traits he despises...or despised in the Royals...
1) When he was found out in the Palace...there was no attempt fo leave or ask for pardon, forgivness, explaination. Instead he held this aura of right (along with Manyata) that they were not at fault: because they love each other. ... This is something very different from Akash's initial character, which was shown as sanskari, hardworking and respectful.
2) When he was being beat up and was being escorted out to the police car he was yelling "I LOVE YOU MONIYA" and "DAR NA MAATH!" and, "MAIN AUNGA TUME LEYNA"- It's also so different from his timid character. Why would he say "darn a maath" What, do they beat and starve her or something? And it seemed a little offthat for a smart, respectful Man- who only days ago was telling Manyata that he wanted to ask her family for her hand in marriage- would so blatantly be disrespectful to her family after being found out.
3) When he was giving his shpeel to the Officer about Rich people driving over the poor in imported cars. Seriously? That was such a big generalization...and I suddenly remembered Udayveer handing Manyata money at the beach thinking she was trying to make a fuss for attention - odd parallel nah?
4) His grand lecture to Udayveer. He had very valid points, don't get me wrong. BUT I found it sooo odd that his tone, posture, mindset was so Full of himself. There was no humility, kindness, indifference, or "class"...and even when he said he pitied Udayveer...it just sounded like he was thinking "Nothing to pity actually, I'm too good for that and better than you" All because of Manyata's "Love". It's odd. I found his lecture to be almost comical, because it wasn't coming off as sincere, and a genuine concern for the girl in question (even when he told UV that he treats Manyata like an item to be bought and placed on a shelf) It seemed more arrogant, "She loves me, therefore I am better" He brought up wealth and status and slapped it in Uday's face, as if it were a Sin. This is no better or different than Uday doing the opposite.
What I'm trying to say is that Akash has embodied a lot of the traits Uday has...but makes it so odd is that no one really takes note or accuses him of these traits like many did for Uday. Why? Because he's poor, and apparently it's alright to be full of yourself if you're poor and a master sin if you're rich.
I don't know if he's doing it on purpose, if it's a character flaw, or if Akash as a character is changing towards a darker side.
It's so odd to see Akash turn so much more cynical, and Uday become a bit mellower. What the heck has gotten into Akash? I understand him being in love: but his love was not like this...from what we've seen at least. He was never full of himself or arrogant: That was UV's character staple.
*NOTE: I am not bashing, making fun or belittle the Character/Actor. I'm just analyzing, comparing and contrasting his actions this past week based on the character we have been presented with since the beginning of the show.- no hard feelings.
Civil thoughts, anyone?
