Sitting in a room, Her Highness Princess Manyata was looking out the window to the stars above as if searching for an answer. Her life was now unrecognizable, even to her. In a matter of months she was now married to a person she swore she would never marry. "Affairs of state," she said to her reflection in the window " you wouldn't understand."
And Akash, the man she thought she would get married to, the man she thought she loved was now a distant memory. She sometimes wondered if the life she lived was even real. It certainly didn't feel like it. Take her husband for example...
Her train of thoughts was interrupted as the subject of her musings walked in the door.
"Princess" he said, his usual smirk was absent. " you aren't ready yet?"
The serious expression on his face was a little foreign to Manyata so instead of her replying snappily she said " mujhe waqt yaad nahin raha"
Her reply had Udayveer smirking. "Mujhe waqt yaad nahin raha" he mimicked. " Princess , are you feeling okay? Aapne mujhe koi gaali nahin di , no kutta, no halkat ,nothing."
Manyata narrowed her eyes and snapped " Nahin di...to aab de doon?"
"Nahin, iss waqt aap tayaar ho jaye. Dadi Saab se milne jana hai na?"
" haan theek hai" was all that she said as turned to go get ready.
Udayveer geniunely smiled at her reply and her new found manners. Those etiquette lessons were paying off. But a little part of him missed his Manyata's old antics and her 'hindi gaalis' as he called them. He realised that slowly but surely his princess was on her way to becoming the queen she was destined to be..'his queen.' He wasn't entirely proud of the way he made her his wife. All the scheming and guilt trips about how the people of their respective kingdoms needed this marriage to strengthen their ties and how their families commanded their loyalties first. Boy had he layed it on thick. He gave her every reason to agree to their union except the one he knew was most important. He loved her. He loved her and knew that were he to tell her about his feelings, she would never believe him.
Manyata had seen him at his worst. She knew he was not used to losing and would do anything to win. The love of his life considered him to be a lying, conniving, flirting pompous palace freak. He laughed a little thinking that was probably the g-rated version of Manyata actual thoughts. The jingling of bangles had him turning around.
Manyata stood there looking every bit the princess she was.
Uday slowly walked over to her and said , "beautiful as usual princess, but it seems you've forgotten something. "
Manya. walked over to the dresser to look at herself. She turned around and asked " kuch bhi to nahin bhooli..."
Uday held up his hand and from it was dangling her mangalsutr. Manya. gasped as she touched her neck. How did he manage to get that? As she walked to him, he suddenly moved closer and said " Allow me"
