A big hello to all the regular members and posters of the Debate Mansion
My name's Tara and this is my very fist post in this forum
I hope the topic im writing about hasnt been discussed already and if it has been then my apologies to the Mods
As most of us know the four-year-old british girl Madeline McCann has been in the news a lot thats because she went missing in Portugal more than a month ago.
Now here's the question, why has a single girl been given so much media-attention. News channels have been covering her case 24/7 back when it was new. There were much important worldly issue but most British news channels preffered to focus on Madeline.
I know that her return is important for her and her her family members but have the same media ever noticed that in much poorer countries thousands of children are homeless, kidnapped, molested and go through so may terrible tragidies at such a young age.
Why have countries like Pakistan or Bangladesh maybe India aswell not received all the media support that has been given to the McCann's.
Yet i dont blame the British press but our own. If they gave half as much attention to these issues rather than following on international news things might get better. Being a part of ''The third world'' country im sure that if a child from Pakistan went missing in Portugal the media wouldnt care half as much.
Celebrities from all over Britain pooled in to help find Madeline where as our celebrities are much too busy in the glamour industry to think about the important issues arising in the country.
It is fair enough that Madeline gets the attention but there are children out there who deserve it much more so when is our media going to act up.
So after much heated discussion what do you thinkđ
