Zee Tv is no more just an Indian TV channel. it has become an international channel. but yes what they could have done was followed the Pakistan selection process for every zone and section. Select four from all the sections and then let the mentors choose. that would have made it more balanced maybe. but to say any particular section deserve the first chance is wrong.😊 similarly leaving south was also wrong especially when u are taking from every other zones of India.

I was refraining from commenting on this issue but the highlighted lines amused me and I am forced to jot down few more lines. 😊

By any chance the Southern tip of India lacking talent? When you divide India into zones for a talent selection and then ignore a major zone then go to a foreign country in search of talent then in my opinion there is something seriously wrong. When I say particular section I mean Indian section. The only explanation to which I agree and which I already stated in a previous post is from Zee's TRP point of view.

But let us all be politically correct and say that we Indians are all one and we love our neighbors before anyone. Being PC is thought to be sensible in such situations and to avoid any conflicts especially in a forum like this. So please let us move on without blaming other POVs as wrong. You have yours and I have mine and let us leave it at that.

I am basically a south Indian, agreed that they should have considered south also, but why such a big hue & cry about NRI's and Pakistani's being in the contest? Let them be, and let's enjoy thier singing, for they seem to be better(so far)than the Indians, in this contest.

There is no hue and cry. All of us love music first. It is just that some of us were discussing on various aspects of Zee ignoring one zone and now successfully analyzed it. At least I did 😊.

Zee needs revenue and TRPs. The ones who provide it get first preference. There is nothing right or wrong in it after all everyone is here to do business. I am glad we have so much talent on the show.

I think best would be to choose four cities from all five zones or four days in one city for auditions, one for each gharana. then the gharanas would have participants from each part of India, and participants could go for the gharana they want. I agree that leaving out south zone was unfair . A talented singer might be lost because he/she couldn't afford to travel too far to other cities for auditions----not all talented singers are well off!

But it is this very different point of views that makes discussions Maya.

I too agree maybe TRP and revenue made Zee to go for it. Its a fact that south India hardly contribute to Zee TV's TRP's. And they are here not to do some social service. They are doing business and so its natural that they will do what benefits their business.

But to say South deserve the first chance or foriegn countries deserve it... is wrong. Whats the big deal if contestants from foriegn countries are included. Especially when Zee has made it very clear that this time it's a VISHWAYUDH.

Zee TV is no more an Indian TV channel. It's boundaries have gone far beyond India. Zee TV has a huge viewer base in Pakistan and South East too. So when there's any Zee proram it is made keeping them also in eye. Thats why Zee this time made sure to have them also in the contest as they too form a part of this Zee family.

How I wished that there was no zonal format to itna bada issue hi nahi bantaa... I think its fine to hunt talent from anywhere in the world if thats what you are aiming at... but should it come at a cost of ignoring a part of the country? No! If the format is fair - open it up to all irrespective of where they are from and then choose the best... By the zonal divide, you are not even getting the best contestants probably...

I also sincerely hope that all the contestants from outside India are judged equally without any prejudice for or against them... If that happens - its going to be unfair again to one section of contestants, and above that to the spirit of music!

Bhasker, I edited other parts of your post to reply to only the ones selected. It looks like I can't refrain from posting after all😆.

Zee TV is an Indian channel first and foremost. We have Zee English as international channel. To say that they went to foreign shores for business is logical and I totally concur with that view. That's what I wrote earlier. But ignoring a major Indian zone is still wrong in my view. Nothing can justify that, not even revenue. It is not that it lacks talent. They could have done the same thing with the South, what they did with Pakistan and that is selecting 4 contestants. But probably they didn't do it because TRPs would still be low.

We basically agree that it is revenue and TRPs but beyond that there are two different perceptions. One can't be wrong.😊

Jaya, with this show every non-issue is a issue😆. Zee believes that negative publicity is still publicity and other channels are catching on.

There is no hue and cry. There is no such thing that everything in life should be looked at such a "whats the big deal" perspective that you may have. Some folks happen to have different opinion.

I never said anything about NRI participation. (I am an NRI myself). I find it just ridiculous that a national television channel doesnt even cover 50% of its country for talent search and at the same time go to a neighbouring country and get non-indians.
