Partiality can be seen everywhere and not only in film industry.... I was working with a south Indian bank and there was lots partiality towards south indians..... so general in life.... most of the directors and producers come from mumbai or north.... and hence try to give first chance to the people known to them....

Hariharan has been given so much importance in bollywood, Mani came up, Rajnikant.... U will get chances if u work hard and deserve.... who knows whether he tried his luck in bollywood or he was inclined in teaching......

On a lighter note i would like to comfort south indians by saying that actually Zee and Star has saved their money which they would have wasted on the show for one or two contestants😉😆

Its more to do with the accent that they cant get break in music..and not bias....Hariharan though closest to being good (in hindi world.. he could be regional legend) for his voice quality sounds wierd in his ghazals...

but in acting you have to know more than just hindi even if it be with a slight accent.... KH and Sreedevi are the only guys who have made any mark at all.. I remember that android from movie company - the police officer....who talks telegraphically... they wont have a good scope in hindi cinema....

this time around, they skipped the south in order to go after more lucrative overseas markets. next time around, maybe they'll skip the east, then the rest of india. after all, woh foreign exchange india mein kahaan joh foreign countries mein hai, kyoon? 😛 soon we should have indian music where the singers are all overseas. does this remind us of indian hockey? yoga? good going 😆

now, irrespective of accent or whatever, i think that at a minimum 10% and perhaps as many as 20% of bollywood singers have been from the south. that should have translated into some good contestants from down south if zee had bothered to hold more representative auditions. but then, zee is in this for the money, not to develop talent and advance indian music. why should it be bothered about good music as long as the product sells, what say? 😉

Asha Bhosale and Lata Mangeshkar, both speak Hindi as if they were speaking Marathi. Come on! They still are pillars of Hindi music. I am so tired of this harping over accent. All maharashtrians have an accent speaking Hindi too. It doesn't matter.
Abhijit, hehe... Rajnikant is not south Indian .. he is a Gaekwad. 😊

And what are they judging everything but singing?. Since not a whole lot of great singing to judge on the show so they judge kisne kya kapde pahene hai, baal kaise banate hai, topi paheni hai ya nahi 😆.
