Sush v Ash!

Biased article but worth a debate! 😉

26 April 2007 (Sawf News) - A comparison of the lives that former beauty queens and Bollywood actors Aishwarya and Sushmita have chosen for themselves since they competed against each other in the Miss India pageant 1994 makes an interesting read. While the former lacked the confidence to even acknowledge her wedding, let alone her boyfriends, the latter readily acknowledges her successive string of relationships, adopted daughter and even her silicon packed boobs! Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood's hottest bride has already taken her new husband's famous name to become Aishwarya Bachchan, said Amitabh Bachchan, the Indian superstar father-in-law of the green eyed actress. Rai, who married Abhishek Bachchan on April 20 in a very private but extravagant ceremony dubbed as "the wedding of the century," has already signed an autograph as Aishwarya Bachchan, the family patriarch told The Times of India in an interview published Thursday. This and many other Aishwarya measures to please the in-laws make her fans ask aloud if she thinks she is marrying 'up' like Princess Diana. Has the taming of the reigning queen begun and will she be leashed slowly but surely? Would Sushmita have turned a docile Aishwarya even if she had married into a high profile family, ask the two warring queens' fans. Ever since Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai competed against each other in the Miss India 1994 pageant, where Sushmita won the top spot as Miss India (Universe) and Aishwarya was runner up as Miss India (World), comparing the two has been a big sport. They are as 'alike' as chalk and cheese. Aishwarya has battled the ghosts of affairs with hot, shirtless Salman Khan and then another one on the rebound with the simple and charming Viveik Oberoi. Ash's calculated, last and unceremonious break up with Oberoi who was her comfort cushion in bad times and the immediate pairing up with the Bachchan lad has left her looking like the villain of the piece. Sushmita on her part flaunts her boyfriends though she refuses to explain them. Aishwarya went on to endorse products while Sushmita has endorsed and carried out what she believes in. Like the adoption and absolute care of Renee, an orphan who hogs media space as Sushmita's baby girl. Sushmita flaunts her 'motherhood' status to the hilt while Aishwarya has never officially acknowledged her plans to marry Abhishek Bachchan. Sushmita had undergone plastic surgery for breast enhancement, a few years ago. She had said candidly to the press, "Yes, it's a boob job, so what?" Chances that Sushmita can be 'contained' the way Aishwarya has been 'domesticated' by the Bachchan family and its infamous band of friends (read politicians), are one in a million. The sane girl will not as much as change the 'Sen' from her name, unlike Aishwarya who the senior Bachchan says changed her name from the 'Rai' to the famous almost iconic 'Bachchan' at Tirupati. "Jaya and I have insisted that Aishwarya must continue with her acting career," he said. "There is no problem or issue with us," informs the 'permissive' father-in-law, in the same interview. Rai fans say that they want to shriek aloud that in this time and age, do the Bachchans think that a daughter-in-law must seek permission to work in her professional career? Sen for sure would have turned and asked in her trademark Bengal tigress fashion- Permission? Hello, who are you to permit me? The comparisons do not end but Aishwarya's fans demand to know if their favorite actor will be a pale shadow of herself, trying to act the traditional 'bahu' (daughter-in-law). Actually, offer some, the subduing had already begun when the Bachchans went on a spree to ward off the 'manglik' curse (of the Martian influence) from Ash's horoscope. In a ridiculous ceremony, the heartthrob of millions of Bollywood fans had to even wed a tree to ward off the curse that is reserved for the spouse in a badly matched horoscope.

Those who believe in astrology fear that the Mars influence hurts the safety and prosperity of the spouse. The Bachchans seem to have quelled Mars and the daughter-in-law who will stay with them, in one stroke, complain Aishwarya's fans. 😆

Sush has lived (at least in public) life on her terms and isnt seen as a docile coy "wet behind the ears" doe trying to find a place in a Mans world. She has done things with style and panache. Aish has maintained a "touch me not" ice maiden image, which is only aided by her incessant giggles, which makes her appear gauche and gawky.

Slightly digressing from the topic, long back, when Vinod Mehra died, there was this strong rumour doing the rounds here that Rekha had some "dosh" or something in her horoscope, due to which the guy she married will meet with fatality.

There was Vinod Mehra, who married her/ divorced and then remarried and died.

Then was Big B, who apparently met with the accident on the sets of Coolbie because of this "dosh" in the kundali.

Then was that MR. Agarwal.

Maybe Rekha should also go find a tree 😳

Back on topic, both sush and ash have their fair share of supporters, but I think Sush will have that wee bit more on IF. Always wondered why women like Sush more, than Ash.
