Thank you for saying that...Yes problematic things should be shut down but this latest trend of boycotting everything associated with a person who's view u didn't like is beyond me

i dont agree to Boycott stuf.... nowdays every silly matters are taken to Boycott ultimatum... which is wrong...

Boycott can be taken when something is so critical... which affect a social life of person... or community... or country...

otherwise Boycott becomes silly...

the reason for this discussion im not clear.... to comment on

So true anything that u don't like u call for it's boycott it does stiffle the freedom of speech

"cancel culture" and boycott trends have become a tool to give - especially through social media - a seeming power to the masses (in order to vent frustration and actual impuissance).

Usually, it is a rather personal, individual choice to cancel/boycott a person or something because one doesn't agree. Social media makes the disagreement public so that it can be used to create a movement.

If those movements become serious, they'll influence the way people express themselves publicly and they'll definitely challenge the freedom of expression.

So, even though I may decide to not watch certain actors/actresses anymore or to not read certain mediaoutlets and critics or listen to certain people anymore, I won't try to influence others to do the same. I don't find it right.

I get the vent ur frustration part...u might want to vent , maybe the opinion of the person doesn't match ur so u won't want to be associated in anyway but calling for complete boycott of entire firms is something I'm absolutely against....

The cancel culture is hardly limited to entertainment industry

#BoycottTanishq trended over a non problematic advert and the drama went offline too

Tampax was cancelled over a tweet...it was obviously some SM manager who had no sense

Goya Foods was cancelled on internet coz the CEO said something in favour of Trump

Does cancelling entire brands for the mistake of one person make sense....there are so many other people involved with a venture except that one person

I mean like i mentioned if the problem is with the thing u want to boycott it makes sense as long as it doesn't turn violent or anything but why randomly boycott people nd things associated with them coz their view doesn't match urs

All this leads to social media bullying, ostracization, financial loss, nd so much more

For publicity. Reverse psychology. Jis movie ko boycott karoge wohi log dekhne jayeinge, find out karne ke aisa kya hai ismein😆
