Ministers say all manner of bizarre things, something is literally there in the newspaper everyday. However, this issue has more to do with the fact that the our culture is bizarre, to begin with. It does not support fair access to public places for women, let alone equal. One other factor that can be deemed wrong in a woman's going out at night is her safety. But it is ultimately related to the fact that the cultural dictates have made life for everyone so that a woman is not supposed to be out at that time of night. I personally think it comes down to a woman's personal choices. If she is willing to do her own thing, if she sees the hypocrisy and the pointlessness in staying indoors after dark, she can do what she wants. Sure, women are at risk after hours in public places. But so are men. Sexual harassment isn't the only possibility. Road accidents and robberies can happen too, which are hardly gender specific.
