I just used that quote as a reference. I've come across many people including woman say that girls should stay at home to avoid bad things. What is wrong if a girl goes out at night?

Its easier for her to get molested raped or violated in some other way in the dark.. so just wait for the sun to rise!!!

He should be ashamed to say those words..It would have been nice if he did his part of duty to ensure safety of women t night instead of making such shitty statements...
But my sisters...India @night is really not safe for you ...unless we finds a better law and order to make sure the safety even at the midnight..

And by the way we all know how our police system is...relying on a pig is better than relying on them...

I'm not at all downgrading girls..just concerned about their safety 😊

You can't spell "culture" without "cult".

Yeah, i know India is definitely not safe for woman, especially having spent my childhood in UAE I find it really bad here, I mean girls can't go out at night without grabbing eyeballs.

I guess the real issue is not law and order or the police system, it's just the mentality of people.

How did India which adores the non-existent Indian culture permit BPOs to function in the night?

Has anyone talked about personal responsibility for own safety? You put yourself in bad situations then you need to take the responsibility too. By saying that it is also the responsibility of Govt to create Law & Order which will deter and prevent crime. On top of this there is a social responsibility for our wider community to create a culture which makes it safe for anyone girls or boys or adults or children to go where they want at reasonable time.

I was surprised to read an article about how young Japanese children are taught to go to schools or daily chores with out supervision and all by themselves. Can we dare to send our children to shop even at the corner of our street in day light to get something? I don't think so.

Basically we are not open to these things, and as a man can go out whenever he wants,a woman can't,just because she is a woman. Some of us still live in the 17th century, but some of us who are liberal, who think that a girl can go out whenever she wants, become wrong, because the world is full of hypocrisy, and here, even my friend says that it's wrong and a girl is of no value if she goes out, because even if she hasn't done something wrong she is a girl, and is character less if she goes out.It depends from person to person, and the society will always be there,to criticize us.I don't think it's always apt,but it's never safe, and we can't change the thinking of males, even if going out at night isn't a crime.
Much love,

In countries where the incidence to rape is very high, it is best that girls get a bodyguard if they want to go out at night.

Ministers say all manner of bizarre things, something is literally there in the newspaper everyday. However, this issue has more to do with the fact that the our culture is bizarre, to begin with. It does not support fair access to public places for women, let alone equal. One other factor that can be deemed wrong in a woman's going out at night is her safety. But it is ultimately related to the fact that the cultural dictates have made life for everyone so that a woman is not supposed to be out at that time of night. I personally think it comes down to a woman's personal choices. If she is willing to do her own thing, if she sees the hypocrisy and the pointlessness in staying indoors after dark, she can do what she wants. Sure, women are at risk after hours in public places. But so are men. Sexual harassment isn't the only possibility. Road accidents and robberies can happen too, which are hardly gender specific.
