Okay so what are the reasons why one should not commit suicide?
a) because they have a family who loves 'em b) god has declared suicide impermissible or c) things are eventually going to get better. Alright. Do we have any other reasons because I'm about to eliminate these. Just imagine a child who lives in a highly dysfunctional family and is a practitioner of atheism. Life has never ceased to disappoint him. For years he has been ricocheting between choosing the continuance of his mere existence or to commit suicide for once and all. (Oh no, this isn't just a dystopian imagination of mine.) So why should the kid live?

I believe it requires courage to execute those plans of suicide. It requires courage to swallow 50 pills or to strangulate yourself or to jump from the top of a building. Courage is a requisite for putting your recurring suicidal thoughts into action. If it weren't I would have not been alive. Its better that one dies rather than living in a deplorable state where you self-mutilate yourself in every possible manner. I'd prefer dying than witnessing the annihilation of myself by myself. How long should one continue the mindless vandalism wreaked upon themselves by themselves? There is no dichotomy between dying and merely breathing. The right to live logically implies the right to die. There comes a point where the pain of continuing surpasses the pain of terminating. At that moment, a fatal threshold is unknowingly crossed. What seemed unthinkable becomes thinkable. Gradually, the realization unfolds that the choice to continue what you've been doing is the choice to live in disharmony and inequality. Once this cognizance has been reconciled, circumstance begets actuality. Also, suicide is something that is systematical. You do not die because of one crap that you have to handle. Nope. Either you're congenitally and intrinsically depressed or your life is full of crap.

The causes leading to suicide are very real, tangible - they are there, plain and simple. For some people, suicide is seen as the only option. You might declare it as a cowardly option, as a selfish option, but that doesn't mean the person who has taken that option is cowardly or selfish. What it means, quite simply, is that sometimes, for some unfortunate people, depression wins the battle.

@enigma
glad to read your post-
I was avoiding this thread all this time for reasons i am unsure about.
True,at a young age when a person is yet to get a hang of ones worth and the world around-if not given an ideal environment to grow in might indulge in self harming activities which might result into death.
These activities include jumping off a building or lighting up fire in the room.A child younger than 10 years old at least doesn't really think 'okay now enough is enough i want to die'.The child doesn't care if it results in death or not.
