Hey everyone, I have this project to do for humanities and would love to have your views on the following case study .
khadija is a Muslim female living in North America. Her religion is very important to her. She's a single mother of 4 and she also wears the hijab. Her job requests frequent traveling. Because of her name and the hijab, she gets pulled aside by airport security often which sometimes result in her missing her flight and being late for conference meetings. In order to get a promotion at work she needs to get to the meetings on time to prove her dedication. Her boss suggest she change her name and remove the hijab so she'll be stopped less often at the airport. What would you do if you were khadija?

Honestly, that's the kind of problem a lot of Muslim girls face today. It all boils down to her faith. My hijabi friend says that her hijab is her identity. She says that it shows her faith and she would rather die than take it off to suit someone else. Honestly, I would say that she shouldn't let other people influence her. Yes, wearing a hijab is hard but she did it for a reason. It's her pride and she should wear it if she can. It must be really hard and I admire her confidence but I personally feel that we shouldn't succumb to stereotypes and let go of our individuality. It's pretty sad that countries always encourage individuality and yet we're discriminated against as human beings for the same reason! Your friend is strong. Don't let some pesky humans and laws beat her down!

Here is the deal she lives in America and after 9/11 I think she knows why she is more heavily searched compared to a white girl. If you are wearing a burkah, hijab, turban or some sort of indian cloths your gonna get searched a bit more, she needs to get over it. Life isn't fair. In class sometimes a few noisy kids get the whole class in trouble, well after 9/11 a few bad muslims got all of the turban and muslims folks more searched and what not. She has 2 choices either live with it or go change her name and take off the hijab. If I was her I would take off the hijab and change my name. Faith religion and the belief of god is inside your heart and i dont really believe in going to gurdwara's mandirs and wat not every saterday and sunday to show off what a god fearing woman i am.

Its not just muslims that america is unjust towards look at Arizona law the police can search any Mexican persons car and ask for their papers to see if they are legal or an illegal immigrant. Now obviously they wouldn't search a white or black person.

This is an idiotic case study. It is practically impossible for one person to be brought aside during the security checking every time. There are hundreds of people with similar suspicion arousing names and characteristics. All of them do not get pulled over every time and do not have to abandon their religion for the sake of reaching a business meeting on time.
