Hmmm...interesting debate to put in the GA section.

I am going to second Somyaa Di.

I would like to add some stuff to that.

As I see it, there are almost 200K member in this section, so there is bound to be khitphit from time to time. Alas, life is short. All I can do is hope that no one holds grudges and that we can all put aside our differences. India-Forums really makes an effort to reach out globally and as we all know with this come an array of people with their own thoughts, ideas, morals, etc which need to learn to respect.

Abhijit has a good point about voting for mods. Yes, Abhi, all us mods have read your suggestion about democratically voting for development team members. In our current system, the development team will recommend someone to be a mod, Viewbie, coolbie, etc depending on the work that they are doing. In our current way of doing things, mods have been recommended based on merit, not on friendship or who they know. I really hope everyone knows this. We don't just pick a mod out of thin air and say, "hey, would you like to be mod?" Personally, I believe that this system works pretty good and I don't think that our current system is broken. The development team of India-Forums cannot be compared to politicians. At the sametime I must not forget that both India and the US are democracies so this idea is quite feasible.

Also, I have five fingers on my hand and all five fingers are not alike. This applies for the development team. We are all different in views, ideas, etc. The positive outcome of this is that the development team really makes an effort to come to discuss issues or problems that we have been facing. Sometimes I think all mods think the same way cuz we are all mods and all us mods should think alike. With a recent incident I realized that mods have feelings too and I need to be sensitive to those feelings. It was a bit of a realization for me and I hope for other mods as well.

BTW - No particular development team owns any section. If a section of India-Forums is not being run per India-Forums guidelines, then the development team will take the steps to ensure that any particular section is brought back to that guideline. We cater globally and to all ages. India-Forums wants this and this is why have those guidelines so that we feel at least 99.9% safe when visiting this web site.

If I have a problem that I need help with solving, I am always able to ask other mods for advice. We come together to collectively resolve issues. As long as most of the team is 90.1% (obviously, the dev team is pretty big and as long as most of us are satisfied with solution to a problem) then we say ok this is how we will handle the solution to XYZ. I can honestly say that I have never been unhappy with a solution to an issue that has been brought up to the dev team. I know that my example was vague, but I hope it makes some sense.

We really ask that if members have an issue with a mod that they bring it up to the development team. It is better to bring up any issues with a member of the development team in the initial occurance of the event rather than waiting till the situation has gotten out of hand. I have noticed when mods are notified about an issue after things have gotten to far that it is quite hard to put a handle on things and thus what the mods decide to do about any particular situation may leave members feeling a unsatisfied. If you think about it, many of us only know each other through pms so this I said, he/she said thing gets a bit confusing. 😆 😆

Ok, this is an extremely long post. Hope u guys are still awake. 😳

In Gujarat we call it 'gaajar ni pipudi' - a whistle made from carrot. Play it while you can and then chew it up and swallow it down.
I will be here till it is fun and then have the option of leaving when it stops being fun. So does everyone else. There are bigger issues to life. Like I said in my first post in the thread, Mods will be wrong from time to time. Let us learn to get over it!

Thank you. Well said. 😛 It took you a whopping two paras to make such a excellent point. 🤗

Now where can I get this gaajar ni pipudi???
