One at a time people, one at a time 😆
But seriously you have to ask that person why he/she fell in love with another person.

I haven't experienced love so I can't say that you can only have one true love or you can love more than once.

But I can say you can have a lot of crushes at once 😉

I think we need to first distinguish between the following:-
Crush
Like
attachment
affection
Love
superficial love
real love
deep love
... some of the phrases used here.
Anyone game for it?
@ KA- I meant Vintage. He's been gone for long Any news?

Crush = I have a crush on SOOO many actors who make me ☺️ It happens when you're fascinated with someone's looks, sharp intellect, their voice, their 'adayein' ...😆 and it can happen just the minute you see them.
Like = I like many members on DM who post nice posts 😊 i dont 'love' them...lol
attachment = Attachment arises over a period of time. It can be anyone or anything..
affection = Affection is something you show to your loved ones, people you're attached to.
Love = This has a BIG definition, it would take eternity for me to say what love is, it makes us speechless ...let me just say Love is God :P
superficial love = it's non-existential
real love/deep love
... some of the phrases used here.

My definitions may not be lucid... so here's what I got from Oxford dictionary
LOVE = Feel deep affection or sexual love for (someone)
CRUSH = A person with whom someone is infatuate
BE INFATUATED WITH = Be inspired with an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone
AFFECTION = A gentle feeling of fondness or liking
ATTACHMENT = affection, fondness, or sympathy for someone or something
EDIT : This reminded me of Pooh. Pooh says love cannot be spelt, it can only be felt 😆 and Leo Tolstoy's book - Where there is Love, there is God.
my definition of love would be that... love is God.

Hats off to you angel 👏 I hadn't really expected anyone to come up with answers to those and that too this quick. I liked your definitions better than the oxford ones. It makes things clearer.
Don't you think that Love as God is too big to be confined to a single person?
If we go by the oxford definition then may be. But from what we see these days even that does not remain confined to a single person. 😆
I now think we could be mistaking commitment or loyalty for love.🤔

These are overlapping terms. We have to pick either affection or like as a base and then use it to characterize these terms. Let me present a scientific model based on affection as base
Crush - 0-30 % affection
Like- >30-50 % affection
Superificial love - >50-75% affection
Love- >75-100 % affection
Anything above 100

thankyou thankyou... 😆
@bold --- What you mean to say is, it would be 'shared' with 2-50 others also? :P ...what I meant was Love is such a great divine feeling that you see God in those that you love(not 2-50 other girls, but that 1 person, apart from your child and parents). You become devoted to them, love towards them becomes like a prayer... let me stop here because I sound silly.
@red --- True! I never think that commitment or loyalty is love.. When a person is truly in love he automatically wouldnt want to have relations with other girls. But that cannot be said of those who are commited and loyal - that they love you deeply. They may be keeping out of extra-marital just so to save themselves from complicating their lives, or out of fear of the society etc. Wouldnt their mind waver? what about their minds???
So then, again the question... what is love if it means that a man can be commited and loyal, even though he might not love deeply...? :P
IDK what the definition is... but for myself, I'd want my future husband to be my best-friend, till my last breathe. He can fantasize(which will inevitably happen) or have affairs, doesnt matter, but he should come back to me, everyday... be emotionally attached to me... even better if he's an open book, just like how best friends are.
Maybe we cannot really say much on these things - commitment, loyalty, love... but everyone knows that they want a best friend, a close soul mate till they die :)

Of course love and commitment/loyalty are not the same or else they would be synonyms of each other, lol
I think commitment and loyalty are integral part of love. Love is not integral part of commitment or loyalty. A servant, a dog, a friend can be commited and loyal to you but they dont have to love you for it. However if someone loves you then they cannot be disloyal and non-commital. To me its not possible.
Main tujko pane ki hasrat mita nahi sakta...
ye intezaar ki shama bhuja nahi sakta...
zamana keh raha ki ab tu aa nahi sakti..
mujeh yakeen zamane pey aa nahi sakta..
meri har ek saans mein khushboo teri hai..
kisi aur se ye rishta main bana nahi sakta.
