I think we Indians go over the board with our "uncle" and "aunty".

....hey, and my neighbor's daughter....I had my kids call her AUNTY JI in a singsong high pitched voice 😆 poetic justice 😉

agreed, this is common in subcontinental culture but i do ask some kids to call me aunty 😆 😆 😆 it looks cute 😛

😆 😆 😆 i did that blunder myself one time calling one lady aunty and she was almost my age, she got shocked and she said i am like you, i got shocked in return 😆 😆 😆 becoz i thought if she is married then she is aunty, havent you read my post, that i used to think married girls are aunties and married guys uncles, but now i am fine with it, i dont address like that anymore 😆 😆 😆

I call people uncle or auntie if they're my friends parents or sumthing or even my relatives b/c remembering names as chachi, massi, etc. is too hard 😆 But other than that I just always add 'ji' to everyone's name. It's respectful and right now I'm not that old so it doesn't feel that odd. But I dont' call random ppl auntie or uncle b/c that feels weird.
And yes some people take the whole auntie/uncle thing way overboard. Like my friend's dad called my mum 'auntie'..Oh I could see fire briming through her nostrils. It was hilarious to me though 😆
