Yo 😉 Wazup? Howz by you? 😆

When we want to talk to a stranger, do we address the person as Uncle , Aunty or something else?

It all depends. Not all uncles and aunties want to be called Uncles and aunties. May be you want to call them Mr. Or Mrs. XX.

If you know these people than you could call them uncles-auntie. But to stranger please ask them after some interaction how they would want to be called. Do not assume.

Who are the people who should be called Uncle and Aunty? Are they known to you. or you just judge the person by his or her appearance?

Poeple known to you, you can call them Uncle and Auntie if age appropriate. If not than make proper judgement.

Should 30 yrs and above people should be addess as Aunties and Uncles.

I don't think so. It all depends on both people's age. adresser and addresse.

what is the right thing to call a stranger when you are in a party or in a function or lost in a place?

Miss, Ms, Mr. or Mrs XXX

Dont you think that the stranger may feel offended with you saying Uncle or aunty to them?

I think some may get offended. I remember when my kids were little and I was barely in my thirties. Their indian friends would call us Uncle and Auntie. I told them you may call my husband Uncle but pls do not call me auntie 😳. I would prefer to be addressed as Mrs. XX. Now I dont have them calling me Auntie b/c I feel it is appropriate.

Plz comment on this?

Bottom line Make sure you are being sincere and respectful when addressing anyone. After that there should not be any issue and no one would get offended 😃

How do we address Strangers?

It depends on many factors like the place you are in and age. In US you won't call anyone Aunty or Uncle unless they are related. In India you would as a mark of respect. In relations even if the age difference is less you address them as Aunt (Bua, Maasi, Mami)) or Uncle (Fufa, Maasa, Mama) otherwise you call someone uncle or aunt if there is a huge age difference. Sometimes even a 15 year old calls a 25 year old Auntie because latter is her mother's friend. It depends on the comfort level. If the age difference is less then you can always ask the other person, what way he/she would like to be addressed.

this is not fair, ghor kalyug, why a woman above 30 is aunty and guy above 40 is uncle? 👎🏼 totally wrong!

one time i called aunty to someone in a party who was almost my age long time ago becoz i thought if she is married then she is aunty before i used to think all girls who are married are aunties and all guys who are married are uncles call it immaturity or whatever then my folks told me not to say like that, it took me a long time to understand the fact, finally i dont think like that anymore 😛

This reminds me of story abt my hubby (V). This indian store that we go to rent movies from, there is this gentleman who is probably is abt my age. But he looks alot older than his age 😳 He definitely is younger than my hubby. And V always calls him Kaka when he talks abt Harshad bhai. Or he calls him Kaka I always tell V that he is not your uncle's age but just b/c he looks older you can't call him kaka 😆 😆 So sometimes we all act 🤪and 😳 ourselves.

When we want to talk to a stranger, do we address the person as Uncle , Aunty or something else? Depends .. if they look like they are from generation before me then yes..

😡 😕 👎🏼 .. And your point is to address people under 30 as Auncles and Unties?

what is the right thing to call a stranger when you are in a party or in a function or lost in a place? Just use any corny pickup line...😉 like is this multigenerational party?

Dont you think that the stranger may feel offended with you saying Uncle or aunty to them? Yeah .. esp if stranger does not think you look like a niece or nephew..😉

Plz comment on this?
