Going back to the topic at hand, I have a question:

Which particular Indian serials are popular in Pakistan? Are they predominantly Ekta Kapoor serials?

Because if this is the case, it may just mean that people from both sides of the border enjoy watching Kekta's over-the-top and senseless dramas.

IMHO, it is human nature to get attracted to weird/scandalous things which involve your favourite stars ... I personally feel that is one of the main reasons people watch Kekta's dramas over other more logical serials like Astitva, etc. Plus there is a weird addiction factor which is undefined by most K-serial watchers.

If Pakistan starts making such Kdramas (assuming there aren't any already), its probable that people in India will start to watch, going by the current TRPs in favour of KSBKBT.

Plus, if the story about the Bans on Indian serials is true, that could be another reason why they are popular - sampling the sweetness of the forbidden fruit.

These are just my theories. Now I dont know if I'm making sense anymore. ๐Ÿ˜•

Hehehehehe!!!..nice theory!!u r making sense๐Ÿ˜†....

yeah it is basically the kekta dramas which r popular..No i dont think that if pakistanis begin to make kektaji type dramas theyll rule..cuz kektajis r kektajis dramas...copying them is not sumthing which i think pakistanis ought to do..itll just make ppl laugh at us..well sum dramas on geo r the proof of that...๐Ÿ˜›

all in all i think that pakistani dramas just need a bit of more advertisments n thell rock more then indian dramas...

N can i ask a simple question...not related to ur reply but to every1..can sum1 plz tell me that if pakistani channels r banned in india then y is it that all pakistani cahnnels show indian tyms..n secondly even if u they put it on illegally in india..it still doesnt make sense into how actors/actresses risk saying it in public that pakistani dramas r gud..cuz obviously they watch them if it so....

N please guys calm down!!! (im gonna keep reminding u guys abt that!!)

I think sana has one valid point here. I remember days when bollywood was new and actress like Nargis, Madhu Bala came to this industry for bread and butter and not as fun profession. Now things have changed in India and this glamour industry is not a necessaity or force driven job, but a choice and status and not looked down upon, but sometimes looked as pride to be a celebrity. What Sana told about Pakistani film/drama industry is something i would buy.

Other point i think is like when you get things at your home you don't look outside to buy. Like bollywood relases so many films per year and then we have hollywood show popular lately too so with all these Indian viewers have their plate full with entertainment. I dont think they need more entertainment or need to look out for more show or drama.

Also, other point could be ...regional dramas. I don't remember watch many Hindi dramas, but when in india i sometime used to watch gujju dramas....we also have films and show that are so popular in south with their regional language..i know in maharashtra ..marathi dramas are very popular and good. Therefore, pakistani drama or show in urdu or hindi might not that of a attraction for indian viewers.

These are few things I could think of for why Pakistani show or drama or movie are not that popular in India compared to vice a versa.

Yaar maine bhi ek theory likhi thi in pages main..no one replied to it or didn't even think ki that could be or could not be a reason....everyone kept on fighting ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜ญ I also tried to stick to the topic.... really ๐Ÿ˜›

nothing is banned in india. i mean none of the channels. we have so many arab channels too. cable wallahs show the channels which rake them money and which are popular. so some people get to see pakistani shows and some don't.

Didn't pakistani dramas used to be really popular in some parts of India? Cuz me and my mom were watching ARY Digital the other day, and there was an interview of Shakeel (or Shaqeel? Dunno the spelling - it was on the show Mehman) and my mom told me that there was this one drama he did which had a really 'tragic' ending and the day it ended people were sitting in weddings and stuff with the TV on, and after watching the end of the drama they were so upset that they started crying and stuff, and just left the weddings, etc without eating or anything... and my mom said that that was an example of how much of a 'grip' Pakistani dramas used to have even on people in India...

(This might be biased, because my mom is a HUGE fan of Shakeel and Pakistani dramas, but I think it does show that, at least in the PAST Pakistani serials WERE popular to some extent in India...although I know they aren't really anymore..sadly, in my opinion)
