Ok, I am back.

Where do I start ..? How about dance and music, since that's what made us friends 😊

1) When did you start learning to dance?

when I was about two and half yrs old

2) Why do you love to dance?

Its a way to express myself and my passion

3) Do you have a fave dance form .. Indian, and non-Indian?

manipuri and bharatnatyam and I would love to learn mohiniyattam, it looks so graceful and feminine

classical Ballet, the power, the strength hidden behind the grace

4) What's your happiest memory of dancing?

The whole learning process, i surprisingly had no official coming out in dance or had very performances. But I love when I can learn a new move and execute it perfectly,

5) What do you consider your greatest achievement so far in terms of learning to dance/ dancing?

learning to do piroutte, shiva position karana.

6) Your dance fantasy? 😛

flexibility like Isha, expressions like madhuri, strength like lauren, and technical accuracy like martha graham.

and be able to do a 1 hour piece with all the navras.

7) Is there a dance form (both Indian, and non-Indian) you would love to learn, and why? Are you planning to learn it anytime soon, if so, how?

mohiniyattam as I said, I would love to learn some steps of kathak, expand my knowledge in the styles I have trained in, BN, Manipuri, classical ballet, jazz, learn flamengo and argentine tango and foxtrot.

Plan depends on how soon I get a driving license and buy a car.

Now to music

1) Favorite genre ... and depending on that, fave singer/composer/raaga ... and why?

genre: none, depending upon my mood, I like genres. from classical to fushion to rap to rock, I am into all.

fav composer: Rabindranath tagore/Mozart

singer: my dad😳, else baritoned singers and female singers with strong voices, large vocal ranges.

fav raaga: hamsadhwani. because its based on melakarta shankaravaranam, its a shiva raaga and it expresses bliss.

2) For me, the genre I listen to changes with my mood, what's the one genre (and song, if any) that you most listen to?

if I am listening to instrumental, then its Hamsadwani raaga composition, I would listen atleast once a day. else as I said, no special genre. I like it all

3) What's the kind of music that you makes you want to dance? What was the last song that made you get up and dance?

all sorts of music, I love thinking how to choreograph a song, heck even certain poetries I would love to choreograph, like where the mind is without fear, then sanskrit poetries( though they aree xtensively used in odissi and manipuri but without music, just the poem) O captain my captain: In short dance to me is just about expressing myself the same way I would do when i write.

4) Have you ever started dancing while listening to some song in public? If so, what was public reaction?

No, not a flash mob type person. but sometimes I do sway my shoulders a bit.

5) What was the last song you were humming, and the last song you were listening to?

bawra mann from hazaro khwaiyesin aisi.

last song i was listening to: lat lag gayi from race too.

6) Any music-related fantasy? 😉

Oh countless, most involving one or more than one of the following piano, flute violin.😳

7) Have you taken music lessons? When did you start? What do you consider your biggest achievement so far in terms of singing?

yes I have, I don't remember exactly when I started, because I come from musical family, but officially I started doing riwaz and all, prim and proper since I was 8. I did upto 5th yr diploma exam, though did not appear for it.

When I learnt the ragaas megh , gaud malhar and hamsadhwani, my highest point.

I never was talented enough to win any school or otherwise competition though.

But its for my own peace that I sing. As Swami Vivekananda said: music is the highest art. Its printed in block letters and hung everywhere in our house.

8) Is there an instrument you want to learn to play? Are you planning to learn it anytime soon, if so, how?

piano, and violin, I don't have enough stamina but would love to learn to play flute. if a man can play raag desh in flute or mozart in piano, he can win me over in a flash.

I plan to learn piano soon, its been taught very near home, but I am tied down with many things now, one at a time.

Now for some related miscellaneous questions.

1) If you were to propose to a guy using song and dance, what would you pick and why, assuming he doesn't think that is silly 😳

I would rather be proposed at using song and dance. The song would be tammany hall song, cindy. there is a line, Then you just kiss me. and then a pause. I would want him to propose to me and then kiss me after that line.

if I must do, there is the song dheere jalna from pehli, the female bit I love it, I would sing it sitting on a corner not looking at him I suppose.

if its dance, I would pick a piece from vaishnav padabali poems.

if he thinks it is silly, there can never be us.

2) When we do meet, is there a dance you want to choreograph together? Do you have a song in mind?

oh yes, the bhayanak music from spark and krodh from spark. I would want to do a fushion, classical and ballet and contemporary.

First impression, insufferable pain in the behind who thinks too high of herself and is here to moral police DTs without having a iota of knowledge of what we are facing on JDJ5 forum on daily basis.

Then we interacted, fought a bit too, but interacted, found out really cool, knowledgable, a little younger medical person with bindass attitude and balanced view on world, and in turn got your admiration for my tuppeny knowledge of dance and then your support in BB and later a comfortable friendship. I think you are smart witty, with biting sarcasm which people sometimes do not get and awesome person to get to know in real life

I would hide it into spirit of debate mansion thread, since no one reads it.😆😆

6) If you were Vijay, how would re-vamp IF ?

Top of my head, get some paid admins, get rid of all the volunteer DTs for a while( even me), then employ paid people/ employees to clean up all the mess, and develop state of art moderation tool.

7) If Harry Potter had the ring, would there have been any difference in the storyline of LOTR. If yes, describe how.

Harry potter did have the ring ( resurrection stone) and the Elder wand, the wand is described has similar characteristics of the one ring, causes mayhem, seeks power.

Anywho, yes I think. Harry wears his emotions on his sleeves, while his love and loyalty is admirable, he acts too hot headed. The ONE RING will seek to employ it. also he is quite capable of being conceited, ONE RING can use it too, he would fall for the one ring for quite some time, but given he is Harry, the pure soul, he will break free, but in the meantime one ring will create havoc or harry would have created a lot of mess and it would take all the power of the valar to salvage the day.

8) Some things about yourself.
- Introvert or extrovert: extrovert but moody.
- Bollywood or Hollywood Hollywood movies, bw songs
- Favorite actor/actress Christian bale, SRK, actresses change. Vidya balan to some extent.
- Favorite Movie, Indian and Western Dont really have one, but the fantasy movie trilogies, Apu trilogy.
- What impresses you in people ? Blunt brutal honesty, about themselves as well, and perseverence.

- Would you describe yourself modern, traditional or both and in what sense:

I am me, I have ideas which are modern as well as traditional. I follow some traditional rules, some modern rules. I try to keep a balance.

- Do you believe in the concept of "one night stand" (Pros and Cons)

Its not my thing. But if it rocks someone's boat, why not.

pros: one night of passion /fun without any strings attached.

Cons: No emotional attachment, no responsibility attached, might lead to STDs if you are not well aware of your partners liasons.

- Democracy or Dictatorship:

Democracy do not work when population is more than 2000, I think some Ancient greek saying in Athens.

nevertheless, do we have true democracy anywhere? specially in India?

I would rather have regency back, because instead of 550 kings ruling and looting us , it would be 5-6 families only.

- Criticize your country for it's weaknesses or hide behind patriotism and "Mera Bharat Mahan" mentality. And if former, have you ever spoken out loud about it ??


yes, I feel we have the ostrich ability and inability to cope with the reality. and therefore we derive a false sense of pleasure by hiding behind mera bharat mahaan. how can the country be mahaan where it does not respect half the population, the female, the weakened.

Sometimes I feel socially and mentally we are still in 1897 and moved very little ahead, than when Swami Vivekananda made his observations.

yes many times. in DM, outside in life. Funny thing is, when you are NRI, app your rights to call spade a spade is forfeited and you can no longer criticize or discuss it witht he same people, friends, relatives with whom you so passionately discussed it a few yrs back.

I hated how I kept on studying, by the time I finished masters, I took a vow of no studying for 5 years. I will work and then only I will do phd, or second Masters or whatever.
