But I guess you're right 'Guess who', they'll have me believe I should quit as a Microbiology researcher because looking for a cure against Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus would only serve our egos.

Exactly. Apathy under the shroud of sounding intellectual is an enemy that could cripple the country right now. This, Abu Azmi's bigot statements on the rape issue and Owaisi's hate speech should not go unaccounted for.

Playing cricket matches and surkshetra is obviously not working, hopefully folks are taking note. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome is the very definition of insanity. They are trying everything but actually discussing the core problem.

Agree with both of you. I live abroad too, but my heart beats for India and Indians. And honestly, I believe India is one of the countries that can set glorious precedents before the entire world. Imagine a largely Hindu country having a Sikh prime minister and a ruling party led by an Italian Christian, and where we had a Muslim President just a few years back. Makes me proud.

To tell you the truth, I'm not particularly proud of India. If I was really proud, I would have stayed back. Things were obviously not good for me, so I decided to move. But I still got family over there and I don't like seeing more blood spill over pointless issues. It just seems like life has no value over there.

How many people are you going to implicate ? When I saw Owaisi's speech, I was more scared looking at the reaction of the crowds. They were cheering him on and they were blood thirsty !

They say if you have nothing better to say, you shouldn't say anything at all. I wish some people in this thread had taken on that advice instead of making themselves look like absolute fools.

R.I.P. Brave soldiers. I hope those Pakistani men who are responsible for your death die an extremely painful death. It disgusts me that there are such people in the world who act as if they have no heart and kill in such a manner. Disgraceful!

Aman ki asha? Yeah right, absolute bullshit.

It's food for though indeed.

Sometimes you can't even tell if the two countries are at peace or at war.

If you are at peace, then incidents like this should not be happening.

If you are at war, then there is no room for Surshetra and cricket.

There are some things we can be proud of. And I agree with your observations about cricket matches and singing reality shows. Clearly, this friendship seems to be one way traffic.

I agree with Silverbug. 👏

What is this imaginary boogeyman that is being talked about? There is infiltration from 3 sides into India. Pakistan, China, Bangladesh. Also don't forget the Mumbai blasts where the infiltrators entered via Sea. How do you protect the country without the forces. India is not forcing ppl to join army, there is no compulsory drafting done like South Korea or US. Its voluntary. Ppl who are passionate about their country and want to serve/protect the borders and the country, join it.

It is quiet stupid to even say that the army is getting paid for their job. Yes they are getting paid but at the expense of their life and the salary which might as well be less than what a fresh IT graduate might be getting. 😕

Its very easy to sit behind our laptops in a developed country which has been independent for well over 230 yrs and expect the same from India, which has been independent for just 65 years. America has seen one 9/11 but do you know how many unfortunate terrorist attacks India has had since independence? What would we do without our Armed force then?

Racist remark?

I asked him, if he was of Pakistani origin. His silence answered that question for me. Things were put in perspective, for me. Maybe I wouldn't feel bad for Pakistani soldiers, either. That would have been easier than bringing the "Big Picture" and other crap in here. As for Pakistani's, I have more Pakistani friends than Indian friends. One of the most "dildaar" people around. This is about the governments, not the people.
