Be honest. Telling the truth is difficult the first time, but it comes with ease every time after that. Lying is easiest the first time but difficult every single time after that. Your honesty may hurt someone's feelings, but they'll eventually get over it. What they won't get over is the fact that you lied to them for whatever reason.

that i agree with, however i follow two options (learned this lesson the hard way).
option 1 - be honest
if honesty is not the best policy in your case, then option 2 - silence is golden!

But in my personal books, if you stay silent despite knowing the truth, you're still lying! Not everyone follows that, but it is what I appreciate the most. But I'm not perfect either, so if I like someone enough, I'll be honest. For those I don't like or care for, I am usually silent and indifferent.

that depends on the situation.
if you know that someone might be getting the blame for a crime that they did not commit, yet you know the truth about that, it becomes a moral obligation to tell the truth in that case, because holding the truth in that case can be tantamount to lying!
me and my big mouth. i should practice what i preach! 😆
it depends on the situation.
