I always wonder about these lists .. what if that guy was truly repentant but if people in the area are suspicious of him all the time, it will be difficult to build a new life

I am in two minds about the registry myself. I think it should be used for serious pedophiles and rapists only.

For example if the age of consent is 18, and 18 year old high school boy has sex with his 17 year old girlfriend – the girls family can convict him of statutory rape and it will stick on his permanent record. It could potentially ruin a person's life. The age of consent and statutory rape laws vary state to state. Many times teenage or young college students do have sex with younger peers, but it is consensual and very unlike rape or abuse. In overzealous attempts to protect teens and minimize teen sex – parents, law enforcement ends up ruining a potentially good young teens life simply because they made a poor judgment call.

In many parts you can go on the sex offender registry for peeing in public, public exposure etc – where you get on there for dumb things like dares, skinny dipping and streaking. The offender could be harmless but they get on there because they were dumb.

Otherwise, most rapists, pedophiles are actually not repentant and often commit the crimes again – so it makes sense to have a registry for only the bad ones.

Well, ive had guys following me and checking me out, and ive had a few stopping me, asking me for my number and stuff. 😆... I don't actually mind, i suppose your stalking was more of a serious nature... but ive had a few... What about guys checking you out though? I am sure, all girls get that, mostly on a daily basis? Today when i was walking home after placement, i had an asian guy that turned around to look at me, and then pinched his friend to turn out and look at me, and then they both looked at me and smiled and walked off... That kinda stuff doesn't bother me. 😆...
