My views are , i am compeletely against any reservations based on caste system anymore. The Econmically weeker section do not need reservations , but better educations system from school level and scholarships at higher ed level. Those scholarships they must work for and prove them selves intellectually worthy of.

Plz continue this debate!! 😊

Aparnaji, i do not agree with u. u cant expect a student who studies in a slum to get as much marks as a student who sits in an AC room n has good classes. However if he gets admission in a good institute he will be able to prove himself.

I agree with you Abhijit, but at the time when the resevation system was started, the Muslims were in a position of minority in the country and also the leaders wanted to get their votes as India was considered a Hundu country and to remove that tag they had to do it. I know they were wrong. But the system is now being used to earn vote banks.

Thats why i am talking about better education system from school level. Where every one has equal opportunity.

And we aren't talking about AC classrooms. During my school days , not a single school in Delhi had A.C and we did just fine in the sweltring heat of 42 degree C under the fan.

Aparnaji I agree with you over basic education till primary level, but many poor students have to do jobs along with their secondary education.

Even i hav not studied in AC classrooms, i just gave an example.

Yes abhijit the politicians talk shamelessy. yesterday some Minister ( i dont remember her name) was talking abt reservations in the private sector jobs. This wil affect not only the next generation but also us as new companies will not come to India and even those here will try to move out. This is getting so paethetic. I m just getting restless.

My husband as a student in U.K was working as a waiter. He had a very tough life and had to buy his own food and books and study material. Yes, as a student also working the life becomes tough, but it doesn't in any way stop your growth. If the Goverment schools become as good as the Private and Public schools and are able to offer teachers and materials to poor kids. It will bring out every childs potential!!!!

I would like to second Aparna here.

Poverty doesnt look for caste and therefore opportunity should know no caste either.

I know how it is to desperately wait for the next paycheck and spending nights in libraries because you dont want to spend the money to buy the expensive books. There used to be good hearted professors who lent their copies to the us students who weren't fast enough at the library line.

I still have a family member who works nights and weekends in India for 1100 Rs/- every month to be allowed to go to a BSc college, despite getting into engineering, she couldnt qualify for a loan to chalk out the money. As long as she can pay for her BSc tuition she wont get married off.

There are several such examples from my own experiances I can share.

Opportunites dont knock on forward caste doors as well. It is the truth and I have lived this.
