Apparently the IB minister is thinking of banning the Tom hanks starrer "The da Vinci code " in India though it has been cleared by the censor board . the movie is due to be premiered at the Cannes film festival and released world wide....

what are your thoughts??? is this fair? is the minister over reacting? or are catholics in India over reacting?? or are they both justified?

I certainly think the Catholics in India are over reacting!! Also neither is the Min justified.

I am sure most of the people protesting haven't even read the book as it happens in many cases.

Today i read an article on the internet... it was abt a survey conducted in Britain in which they said that people who read the book believe that Opus dei is involved in muder acts as mentioned in the book, etc (which is fiction...) They think that if a best seller book can cause this much change in thoughts and believes .. then movie which is more powerful and strong medium will cause more problems... (I'm not saying this... it is the survey that says it !)
Here's a link to the article:

P.S. :Im eagerly waiting for this movie!!!!! im hopping!! 😆 😛 😛

the more they overreact, the more controversy they create. the more controversy they create, the more popular the book becomes. kind of defeats the purpose they set out for in the first place.

I think the IB minister is somewhat over-reacting. They are being too protective about minority's thoughts and views. But then on a second thought, I think they are to some extent right considering emotion and thoughts and beliefs of the people. If people just watch it as a creation of art like any normal movie then there should be no problem. But if it creates doubt in them that could be a problem. Because frankly speaking after watching closely I don't believe 100% of what is said in the book. It has been already proved there is no "Priory of Scion", it's a fake one. When something(true or false) stands up against the conventional belief it always creates waves and stirs up our minds.

u r rite...i guess if they are willing to show something like..." this is based on a work of ficiton and not fact and all characters are ficitonal and any coincidence is ..well ..coincidental etc etc etc..." should suffice right?? ai mean many movies have been made even before based on a historic fact but a fictionalised view of it.... actually critics have apparently crucified the movie and all this hullaballo will only serve to encourage people to watch it.....the easiest way to make a book a best seller is to ban it...i guess the same goes for movies too.

After the first showing this movie has had some very negative reviews. So until one sees it for them selves its difficult to form an opinion.
