You make way too many assumptions and have nothing to worthwhile to say.
I asked why should I (who is not a US citizen) be interested? Answer that.

Got it. The spam comment was not directed at OP. Other stuff were brought in by nacho taco... He came out of no where and started passing out judgement. In the process he got bruised and went crazy and started blabbering about 70's flop comedy shows..

If a discussion starts and ends with a Wikipedia link then it fits better in Members Lounge.

@souro - from what little i understand, it does effect US based websites that r used by the rest of us... apparently the language is vague enough for it to be interpreted any which way... If a user posts copyrighted material on blogspot and some one complains then the SITE will be as liable as the user ... so u are essentially talking about say someone like RTH suffering bcos of some fool ... that's what i read on wiki btw, couldn't read the whole of it bcos of their black out 😆😆😆 and didn't really understand all of it bcos internet mumbo jumbo is beyond me at times 😆

For the starters, SOPA and PIPA are the bills in US Congress. Though I have not read those bills line-by-line, I would think that since historically, US has not passed any laws to which India or any other country has to adhere, these laws (that is if they become laws) will also not be enforced on other countries...

Let me know where it says India has to abide.

I know that websites hosted in US will get affected in turn affecting the users of those websites wherever they maybe residing. Moreover, US being a prominent country, it might set a precedence for many other countries to follow.
But that doesn't mean every person even outside of US should become interested in the current going ons. There is still a lot of ifs and buts involved and no one worries about what is going on in another country just because it might affect them some day.

I heard that Wikipedia and some other websites were planning to black out and saw today morning that Wikipedia was indeed blacked out. But honestly I'm not the least bit concerned.
Yes if Wikipedia and Google goes off air, it'll be a big inconvenience for many internet users. But I can't get interested about something that is another country's matter. If the law comes into effect in US, let those websites host their servers in a country which doesn't have such laws. What's the big deal? Why should I care whether Wikipedia houses it's servers in France or India or in Palau instead of USA?
