Yes that is very true.
Some do not work because they do not need to. But even if one is very rich they should engage in some sort of activity or else life is a waste. Also the idle mind is a Devil's workshop.

Several men are super cooks and very well paid.
It pays well to master certain skills.
5 Star Chefs are rare and the recognized French chefs are mostly men.
There could be some bias here.

I don't think this topic should be a laughing matter. There are a lot of people suffering without work right now. I made this topic for the purposes of getting some insightful responses. While most have been good, others have been insenstitive. The people who do not have to work and have it lucky should not demean others that don't have it so good! Please just be senstitive to what the topic is addressing. Thanks. 😊

It's a tough world out there. Survival of the fittest. It is one thing to lose a job. It is a whole different thing to be marketable. If you have been doing the same thing for 20 years and lose a job to realize that the thing that you were doing is not in need any more in the market, who is at fault?
Time when you feel comfortable at job, it is time to move on and learn something new.

I think having a job is extremely important. Especially for women, since our society mostly views them as stay-at-home.
India is changing rapidly now, and women are entering the working field, however it's not to the point where it should be. So as a woman, I think it's extremely important for us to study hard and get a job, so we can support ourselves financially, and be independent.

Having a job also brings a purpose into life. You are working towards achieving a goal. So yes, it's definitely an important aspect in life :)

It is good for women to be independent too. Financial independence is important in modern society.

Those that have jobs are often bored or planning to resign or looking to quit and join another company.
Those without jobs are bored and feel dejected. The havoc caused by the Euro is not helping Europe and hope they can settle the matter soon.

Bingo! There are people out there with a first from LSE in degrees like Law and Economics with all the experience in the world yet so many fail to find a training contract and remain unemployed for a few months after graduation.

The stats are surprising and actually quite depressing for graduates. I remember reading an article during the recession about McDonald's receiving thousands of applications for one vacancy. I guess the importance of a job depends on your situation really. If your parents gladly pay for all your costs then many think 'why bother with a job?' and others want that independence and do whatever it takes to get that job to fund their travel costs, petrol costs or any other social life costs. Of course this is from a student perspective. In the real world you need to pay for insurance, electricity bills, rent etc and I don't see how one can manage to survive without a job. Then again the UK benefit system is known to give away free money through Job Seekers Allowance and other council benefits.
