Youth must enter politics but with training: Kiran Bedi

BANGALORE: Only those youth with adequate training about governance and related issues should enter politics and cleanse the system from the roots, said Kiran Bedi, one of the key members of India Against Corruption.

"Yes, the youth must enter politics. But only considering it as a public service and not for the sake of power. The process should start from one's student days by way of involvement in community service. The civil society should groom such people. They should have spotless character. Rotary Club should take up more responsibility and start schools to train such people on governance and democracy," Bedi said. She was delivering a lecture on the topic "Changing India - need for youth to consider politics as vocation" at the 36th Rotary district conference 'Akarshan' in Bangalore on Saturday.

The former IPS officer also said that young people should get into politics by way of joining a national party, rather than joining a new one or starting a new one. "They should try to join a national party, work there and start cleaning it from the roots. Joining politics should be by a design not by an accident," she added.

Bedi insisted on 3H formula for better prospect of about 500 million youth of the country. She said that Rotarian's should involve themselves in developing skills in the populace.

"India is set to become the biggest workhouse of the world. The focus should be on building entrepreneurship. It should be on 3Hs --- Hands, heart and head. Upskilling of this 500 million population, plus the 200 million additional in the period up to 2040, is very important .They should be made employable. Economic empowerment is a must. If India doesn't accept the changing situation, the demographic dividend can turn into a demographic bomb," she said.

The fact that it would have been rape had the girl not been persuaded is what bothers me, really. Anyway, it's okay, I suppose having read and heard such detailed descriptions of actual rape recently is what is making me intolerant towards such jokes. Not your fault. :)

I'm a nut though. Pretty weird, actually. I rant at people for no particular reason and mostly make remarks which are either termed as crass or derogatory.

I aspire to become a Maha-pain-in-the-ass. Haha.

And being a debate junkie is SUCH a good thing. I, for one, can't debate to save my life. As I implied I just know how to rant. Unfortunately I lack material to support it. I lost a virtual life because of the exact same reason.

I find that debating is much easier when you feel passionately about something. Once you find those things, you will feel the need to argue/debate/rant about that topic to anyone who cares to listen. Educate yourself before you start educating others, that's all I ask. :)

You can be weird and rant for no reason - just don't be a pain in my ass. That's when I get angry. 😆

Nearly everyone here has been banned once or twice. I came across people on the BB forum who've have been banned for only God knows how many times.

Everyone's way more interesting on the internet, that's a universal fact. So why waste time being your usual self when you have the liberty to troll as much as you want. I mean this is so much fun. I had two such amazing buddies here who turned out to be such certified bundles of crap. Gave them a piece of my mind, their souls rest in peace now. Had something like that happened in real life I prolly would lament the whole scenario but not here. Here you're so much free. And turns out even if you get banned they don't actually ban you but ask you to come back with a new Id. Rofl.

Ahh, so you are from the BB forum?😆 I intentionally kept myself away from that forum last season, although I did stop by Sapna & Sana Khan AT. Trust me, I know most of your friends here including some of the weirdos you've mentioned in your BB slam book.

I agree to most of what you've said. It's internet, having fun is not a bad thing. And too much of a good thing can also be wonderful. This is an MID I made years ago, don't know when. I logged into this account to troll, bash and post like anonymous. But sigh, my stalkers revealed it to everyone in a recent fight.
