What is the point of getting married?

Marriage obviously bring happiness to some, but not everyone. Single people are also happy. What is the point of getting married? Sure, you have a life partner. But, it has to be someone you know really well and are comfortable with. Arranged marriage fails miserably in this day and age. Only love marriages are successful, but not always. The divorce rate is so high then it was 10 or 15 years ago.

Please share your thoughts. Is there a point to marriage? 😲

Personally speaking i dn believe in marriages... Marriage just makes a person's life hell! And wen u r happy being single den y marry & add complications 2 life? 😆

For me both love marriages and arranged marriages r equal as both r nothng bt trouble creators😉😆.. marriage is just like gambling... Der is no guarantee at all of a peaceful life 2 Wat 2 talk of a happy life.. The risk in both kinda marriages is almost same.. okay u say dat in a love marriage u knw d person bt is der a guarentee dat d person will keep u happy?? Or dat d marriage will be 4 d keeps?? Love marriages r as gud as arranged ones...

Marriage is supposed to be a partnership that works well and saves one from loneliness. There is a trade off and some personal freedom has to be sacrificed.
Guess kids will make you understand love better.

I don't understand why so much emphasis is put on people getting married, having kids and having a family...

I don't see a point or any kind of greatness that a person would achieve if they are married and have kids..

In my opinion marrige is the most overrated of all the institutions created by mankind...there should never be any pressure on anyone to get married just because its a norm...although I do believe that if one wants to have a family...getting married brings more stability in life...

Summerji...its ur partner and not the marriage which saves u from lonliness...a committed partner will be by ur side whether u are married or not...

Other than LOVE,KIDS,SEX & MONEY...,,,,,.Some Experianced people says :-

man loses his bachelor's degree . and the woman gets her master's...

if it weren't for marriage, we men would go through life thinking they had no faults at all...

Marriage is like a late night phone call... You get a ring and then you wake up.

Marriage: finding that special someone you want to annoy the rest of your life ...

...can mate in captivity.

...divorces are caused by marriage.

Marriage is the process of finding out what kind of man your wife would have preferred

Now that is tricky, eh?

I dun feel it is customary to get married.

Marriage is an aesthetic satisfaction to some, whilst some have really 'rooted' marital values.

I mean, a drive to the court and a gala time with your witnesses in the marriage registrar's office is always a better option than entertaining a dozen uncles with Black Label while they could just prefer something 'lighter' and maybe some peanuts. It nauseates me, and I come down to the same question as yours, what is the point in getting married?

My mother is chivalrous, I tell you and my father, a hopeless martyr. 😳
