This is about understanding of our origin and reason for existence.

How did we get here? Were we created or did we evolve randomly? Are we the product of purposeful intelligence or are we merely the end result of countless cosmic accidents? Does it even matter?

A very interesting topic ! Any views ?

PS: Sorry if this topic has already been discussed. I haven't checked all old posts. If there is one already, then mods can close this one.

I feel it doesn't matter, because knowing it won't really be an asset to me in my opinion. :)

The evidences behind biological evolution are undeniable. Biological evolution isn't any less proven than say the theory of gravity or the Big Bang. Despite that, we have so much of problems accepting evolution into modern science but don't seem to care much for other scientific "theories" out there. I wonder why? Is it because evolution directly contradicts (or seems to contradict) our preconceived notion of God than the other scientific theories?

True. Well said. 👍🏼

Ppl usually love to approach everything in a scientific way expect when it comes to prove the existence of God or the creator. With evolving technology, we are finding out more n more about cosmos/universe. The biological evolution is making good sense.

Chicken-and-Egg Mystery Finally Cracked

Published July 14, 2010

British scientists believe they have found the answer to an ages-old question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Scientists cracked the puzzle after discovering that the formation of eggs is possible only thanks to a protein found in chicken's ovaries. That means eggs have to be formed in chickens first.

The protein -- called ovocledidin-17 (OC-17) -- speeds up the development of the shell. Researchers from Sheffield and Warwick universities in England laid out their findings in the paper "Structural Control of Crystal Nuclei by an Eggshell Protein."

They used a supercomputer to zoom in on the formation of an egg and realized the protein is vital in kick-starting the crystallization process. It works by converting calcium carbonate into the calcite crystals that make up the egg shell.

Dr Colin Freeman, from Sheffield University's Department of Engineering Materials, said "it had long been suspected that the egg came first -- but now we have the scientific proof that shows that in fact the chicken came first."

"The protein had been identified before and it was linked to egg formation, but by examining it closely we have been able to see how it controls the process," Freeman said.

"It's very interesting to find that different types of avian species seem to have a variation of the protein that does the same job."

It is hoped the discovery leads to the invention of new materials.

Evolution has been used to explain the chicken-egg thing, but its relevance to the creationism vs evolution discussion doesn't bcom apparent, atleast not to me. Cud u shed more light on the reasons that led u to blv that creationism vs evolution is akin to chicken-egg argument ?

PS: not sure abt the role of cosmic accident (little evidence for panspermia), but haan .. condom accident indeed leads to new life .. :P

Moreover, creationism doesn't explain anything. It just says "God did it". Fine, God did do it...but so what? How does that explain all the other remaining questions linked it? It's another way of saying "I don't know", or rather just closing the question with a typical answer.

Having said that, I don't see why evolution and creation has to be separate entities. People can always reconcile evolution with God.
