The problem with such arguments is that it practically closes the debate, any guy who disagrees with you, or doesn't like SRK, will be judged as someone jealous... when the reason could simply be that they find him overhyped/overrated for an average actor 😛
Forget about closing the debate. I'm actually confused as to what debate the topic starter had in mind.
Is there any female who doesn't like SRK?
Well thats a no brainer, and not a debate topic to begin with. as Solid Snake pointed out, No one, not even God is liked by everyone. I know several females who despise SRK. Now that they manipulated the subconscious of men, I would like them to make a debate of it and manipulate the subconscious of women who do not like SRK and prove that they are suffering from repression of their love for SRK. 😆
Why do some men (rather people) dislike SRK?
Now that is actually something that can be discussed, of course if you do not close the debate by attributing all men to be jealous or have such negative feelings.
Most reasonable people who dislike SRK feel that he receives too much undeserved hype. Personally, I feel that he has fairly earned the hype that surrounds him - he is a brilliant person who has really managed and marketed himself as SRK making himself like a prestigious brand name. However, I do understand how people feel that he has gotten attention despite mediocrity and it is fair enough.
Unfortunately there are those people who get obsessive in liking or disliking someone. They need to see a psychiatrist, male or female does not matter - but well qualified.
Coming to the jealousy aspect. Many times when men or women claim to dislike a celebrity the opposite sex like it is attributed to jealousy. There maybe subliminal jealousy involved. But it is unfair to write someone off as jealous or insecure.
Men and women both have ideals. The kind of behaviors, personalities they like to portray or admire. Men like a certain amount of machismo. Most men don't like cheesiness or over the top romanticism. They like male idols to be exude some masculine qualities, or qualities they admire in people. To many men SRK is to cheesy and over the top romantic, and its not something they like much. That is why they get irritated when women close to them drool over SRK. However, often times they don't mind if women drool over other male celebrities. Men who admire Aamir Khans intensity, don't mind women drooling over Aamir. Men who admire a sports celebrity, don't mind women drooling over that sportsman.
On the other hand despite KSG exhibiting good looks and good built that men admire and aspire to have, many men abhor him - because believe it or not even men have a certain amount of emphasis on fidelity, integrity and personality. It gets irritating to them when women worship personalities that don't seem to exude these qualities or even contradict them - for many men it almost seems hypocritical.
What is a fan?
Seems that Souro and BI chose this subject as the debate. 😆 Fan does come from fanatic. But it has evolved away from fanaticism to be more of a word that describes an ardent follower. Over the top fans are fanatics.
I count myself as an SRK fan. I was thirteen when DDLJ came out and that was the first movie that gave me the warm fuzzies. SRK and all his cheesiness will always have a special place in my heart. I do watch movies if he is in it. Although that does not mean I won't stop it halfway or hate it. I don't get offended or upset if people dislike him. I'm comfortable with personal choices, and am ok with people disliking him.
And gosh, I love Lady Gaga but most people are always calling her freak, weirdo, hermaphrodite, or going 🤢 or 😡 at her. I'm ok with that. I enjoy her music, I'm by no means a Gaga evangelists. Some stars like KSG have evangelists as it were a religion. If they were Gaga fans they would take offense everyone disliked her costume or called her a freak. They probably would be clinically depressed over all the criticism she gets. 😆
