The word 'fan' is not just used for people like that. Its a term which is casually used by all of us to indicate that we 'like' something. Like I commonly say things like 'I'm a fan of Italian food', 'I'm a fan of 'gucci' brand, but that doesnt mean I am crazy about these things, but prefer to have them once in a while. My mom says shes a fan of SRK, but she is not crazy for him or something 😆, she just loves to watch good movies of his. Same is my case, I am a fan of SRK and prefer to watch his good movies. I might watch certain bad movies of his just once, thats all. Everyone likes him for a reason, like for me its mainly his comedy, I find him really funny 😆. So if there is a flop movie of with SRK comedy, I dont mind watching it 😉. Like I personally hated his movie 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna', I dint find any sense in it whatsoever, but I dint mind watching it for various other reasons, like I loved the star cast (SRK, Abhishek, Preity, Rani), I loved the songs, it had good comedy, good cinematography, etc. But that doesnt mean I would go around appreciating or recommending that movie 😆, even today if someone asks me about that movie I would say its 'horrible' 😆!

I meant 'fan' as per the proper meaning. I said those 'fans' worship their favourite celebrity and sometimes literally. I didn't say that people don't use the word 'fan' casually. Neither did I say that those who describe themselves as 'fan' casually worship their idols.
BI debated about my usage of the word 'fan' and I told her that she doesn't fit the definition of a true 'fan'.
Now, I don't see what exactly is the problem in saying that fans worship their favourite celebrity, but it seems that there is some problem considering you are the third person coming up to defend themself against that remark.

As for the topic: I find some of the movies of SRK good, some of his films enjoyable but not great and some of his films totally rubbish.
I don't really think he is a great actor or anything and I definitely don't think that he is good looking.
But I do think he is a good businessman. Very good at negotiating and networking which is what has positioned him so favourably with the top production houses and brands and helped him in maintaining the hype amongst the people.

Hello why are you getting so agitated 😲?!?!?!? I'm not any third party who is coming in between to defend or attack anyone, I will say what I feel and if I dont agree with something you say, I dont have to remain quite just to please you. This forum itself is called 'Debate Mansion' so everyone has the right to express their views and opinions here. And regarding your 3rd party comment, if you remember, this is MY topic so I am the 1st party here and so I have my rights 😆😆!
So cool down, take a deep breath and just relax 😆!

I said 'third person' not 'third party'. Third person as in BI, then another person and then you. All three of you took objection to that remark that fans worship their favourite celebrity.

Hahah ooh ok 😆! I mistook 3rd person for 3rd party 😆.
Well I think going by the 'fan' meaning you have taken, you are right in your comment. But I think most people take 'fan' casually and not exactly in the 'fanatic' sense, thats why when you mentioned 'fans worship celebrities', people thought you were generalising. So that was the misunderstanding 😳.

And as you said, whoever wants to be jealous of him can be so, but before criticising him, let them 1st be like him and then say whatever they want about him 😉!

The problem with such arguments is that it practically closes the debate, any guy who disagrees with you, or doesn't like SRK, will be judged as someone jealous... when the reason could simply be that they find him overhyped/overrated for an average actor 😛

Was that a female psychologist by any chance?

I disagree that fans cannot be rational. Yes, the word 'fan' came from the word fanatic (or so I have heard), but many a times, words loose its original meaning in the span of time. Today, the term 'fan' and 'fanatic' are used for different reasons. Yes, if we trace back into the past, we'll see that people really meant fan as fanatic (there wasn't a difference then), but the same cannot be said for today's time.

To quote Encarta:
Enthusiastic admirer: an enthusiastic admirer of a celebrity or public performer
I am not a female, but personally speaking, I am neutral towards SRK. I neither like him nor do I dislike him. I do, however, feel - contrary to the popular opinion - that he is a decent actor and can indeed act well if the need arises. However, most of the time, he ends up playing the same type of roles showing little to not versatility. I also feel the that hype around him has I'd prefer watching him rather than, say, Salman, but I'll be more prone to skip his movies compared with someone like, say, Aamir.

I don't know, I like him too. 😆 Indian females are apt to like him or something. 🤣

Most of his romantic flicks are insane, honestly. YES, including DDLJ but he's got this rare cuteness and charm in his acting which I personally watch his movies for. Kal Ho Na Ho is like my fave movie forever and he's never done any better movie, according to me. I liked his acting in Veer Zaara, K3G and Chak De! India too.

And the "K k k k Kiran" thing I haven't ever watched, and he's known for it. Wow! 🤣 I can't even imagine SRK as a villian. Eesh! 🤓

Hahaha 😆😆!
Well I understand what you mean and you are right, it is not necessary that the reason behind every 'man's' dislike towards SRK should be jealousy. If a person has a valid reason as to why he/she dislikes SRK, like how you mentioned you dont like him bcos he is overhyped/overrated as you consider him as an average actor, then its fine. I respect your opinion and I dont find anything wrong in your opinion. I am just talking of some men who hate him without any reason, and if you ask them the reason they give really stupid reasons and more than reasons they just start making fun of him. So when someone behaves like that, I feel they are just jealous of him 😆!
