Does our Society Favor men?

Does our Society Favor men? - Please participate openly and please vote with your own argument(s), either your response is yes or no

I have always had it in mind that in some respects men have a more difficult time than women in the world in-which we live. After-all it is mainly men who are sent out to war, sometimes against their will in some countries. It is also a case that in a disaster the women and children are automatically saved first.

One the other hand history shows a clear picture of a society built by men that favored men. Of course this doesn't mean that women didn't have any power, some of the most powerful people in history have been women. They may not have stood at the front on every occasion but we know who had the power. How many decisions throughout history have been influenced by the woman behind the man? I think the question is wrong.

The question should be 'Do we truly want Equality?' I don't think it's what anyone wants, man or woman. The reason we don't really want equality is twofold. Firstly there is no such thing, you can't make a law for it (we have all seen that ) there is simply no way to enforce equality. The second reason is that everyone (man or woman) wants it better, easier, faster than everyone else that doesn't make us all equal, we are designed this way, to look for the edge, the advantage over others.

You cannot create a law to enforce some ones point of view. If a man employing a person thinks a man is better for the job then no law will change his mind and equally if a woman is employing someone and thinks a woman will do a better job how does a law change that. We must accept that we all have strengths and weaknesses, that's what makes us individuals.

The simple truth is that we all have different ideas on who is good at what and why. This doesn't make us right or wrong it makes us human. In a true democracy we should be allowed to choose based on what we believe as individuals. In my experience no one feels good when an opportunity is given to someone for the wrong reasons, this doesn't bring respect it brings resentment.

I think discrimination is the wrong word, if I am employing someone and I need someone smart I'm not going to employ a person with a low IQ. This would mean I am discriminating, but I need someone smart to run my accounting department. If I think men are better with numbers then that's my opinion. If I needed a HR manager I would look for a woman, I think they deal better with people, again my opinion. I could be wrong but it's my opinion and until I see something to change it then it will stay.

Do I think men get a better deal, No they have just as many crap things happen to them but the grass will always be greener on the other side of the fence women will always think men get it easier and men will always think women do. Get over it.

Although we have become very liberal in these affairs, it is still a male- doniabted society. I mean, it's all around you. The US has not had a female president yet and there are many other instances where it is apparent that society is patriarchial. Even though we are becoming more liberal and tolerant towards this as the days go by, it will take some time before it happens.

In India, already you can see reservations in colleges for women, so that's progressing as well.

Hmm I feel women are going to take over the world :(

On the other hand India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Philipines have elected a woman as a head of the State at some point 😃
