Math is but one subject. So is science. So is medicine. So is philosophy. So are a host of others. None of them are the be all and the end all when understanding "that". Not all infinities are the same. You could start with 1 and go all the way to an unknown number. Then you multiply every number with a 2 and still go all the way to infinity and beyond. The first series is not the same as the second series. And yet, you would reach an unknown number. It makes sense to think that your thoughts are limited by how good you are at speaking (or thinking) in a language. It makes sense but again I am not sure if that's an accurate statement.
Gauri, Gauri, Gauri! What tells you that 0 is simple and 1 is complex? For your question "which way you should go" - for happiness, walk towards everything/1 (per you) and as far as sorrows are concenrned - walk towards nothing/0 (per you). In India a decimal system was used but our ancesters used an empty space for a zero upto 3rd BC. This was confusing because an empty space was also used to separate numbers. So, they invented the dot or zero. You are assuming that 0 is simple just because it helps keep our math simple. 0 itself is very complex and it could go from nothing to everything plus some more depending on where you place it. Your assumption that 0 is nothing and 1 is everything is faulty. Additionally, there are no aboslute right or wrong answers when it comes to what one should be or should not be doing. Most of us don't know for sure what exactly we want IN our life and FROM our life. You cut out your very first post from here but even you were pondering over whether you should group or further classify the groups. This tells me you yourself have not made up your mind what you want so how can you jump on which direction you should be walking in when you are yet to decide what you want?
What makes you think I don't understand 0's and 1's. Teaching qualified software engineers the basics of a binary system is like teaching qualified doctors how to take the pulse and monitor heart beats.
I am using two numbers to denote two concepts viz., everything and nothing. Even the entire theory of probability operates in that range.
I haven't seen Everything. I can't imagine Nothing. If I had to give a notation to what I have seen + imagine, I placed myself on a scale where 0 and 1 are the extreme points and I am somewhere between 0.4 and 0.6. Why is that hard to understand?
This is not about happiness and sorrow. This is not about what one wants in life or doesn't. I don't care about them within the context of explaining the physical world, without overstepping on the scientific boundaries.
Yes, there are no absolute right or wrong answers to some questions. Doesn't mean, we will stop evaluating the likely answers and pick one that makes most sense to us. When you said that the answers are staring at me, I was replying back saying that some of the answers are throwing more questions than resolving my dilemma.

In my "Who am I" series, the I represents a universal consciousness. If someone wants to contradict what I said AND present an alternate, elegant theory at the same time, I am all ears.
My idea is not to contradict, but to discuss because I also believe in "one". But, one way to look at contradictions could be to look at all the assumptions in detail, ask some questions like you did in the first post and look at the available evidences.
For example is there a place for randomness in "I" according to your theory? If not then how are infinite possibilities possible without any randomness?
Another point is that if one thinks that "there is no separation" or "nothing matters at all" then could thinking like this itself be the real illusion?
On the contrary, if everything matters then what role was played by Dinosaurs (assuming they existed) who got extinct?
I would love reply to your deterministic / nondeterministic model but first I would like to know what exactly you meant when you said this: Please elaborate on the rolling the dice part and clarify on "memory retention". Memory retention by which entity? I didn't get it. Thanks!
Memory could be anything that retains the outcome and because of it we don't have to start from scratch. For example suppose that it is difficult to go directly from A to Z, but easier to go from A to B to C etc with respect to probability .
Lets say after we get B from A, we store B in the memory. Then we start from B to reach C and so on. It is similar to the case when it is easier to reach the roof by lift or steps than compared to a direct jump. Here, it was difficult to reach Z directly from A, but was easier to reach there in steps. Those steps may not be possible without memory because if B is lost then we have to start again from A. (Moreover, there is of course an assumption that there is an underlying order in addition to randomness that determines which part gets discarded and which gets stored in the memory.)
Memory is all the materialistic forms that we see around us. May be the separation and differences that we see all around us are part of the memory that captures the current state. I dont know, but I wonder that, may be, if wave is wave then the particle could be the memory in the wave-particle duality.
You are correct in that I am waiting for the right answer to fall in my lap. I am waiting for that "a-ha!" moment which might never come.Wrong again. You are assuming that you will strike upon one single rationale one of these days. As I said before, there is no right or wrong answers for us mortels. Similarly, there could be multiple rationales and based on which one of those appeals to you mot, you may end up picking that one. As of now, I see you closing your mind to every single rationale thrown at you because you are waiting for that ONE rationale that even you don't know what it is. How will you identify it with a closed mind while rejecting all permutation and combinations out there?
But trust me I am EXTREMELY receptive to new ideas and reasoning. I am obsessed with finding answers and I am googling, searching every nook and corner, talking to every person who has an opinion on this topic and most importantly thinking.
So far the possibilities seem to be
a) Consciousness
b) The Supreme Being
c) A deterministic universe
d) A non-deterministic universe
Which one is it and why?

All of them are very relevant statements. And all of them contradict one theory or other.
I find myself getting pulled more towards the consciousness theory every time I analyze other theories. Strange! Yes, if everything matters then the dinosaurs which have gone extinct matter, the stars exploding and going supernova in galaxies matter, a moving meteor apparently going aimlessly matters, an earthquake in Haiti matters, why a muscle twitched inside me matters. If nothing matters, then somebody should explain everything that I see around me. Precisely why I would ask Consciousness or the Supreme Being just one simple question – WHY?This is the BIGGEST puzzle we have and I find it amusing that we go about or daily lives like nothing matters except us.
Beautiful! 👏 Memory is what I went with even when categorizing experiences (of observing the universe from its birth to its death and cataloguing all the events). Question is who does this memory belong to? Is there a container? Which or what contains this memory? Is it a single thought?Originally posted by: karandel_2008
