Constructive criticism isn't equivalent to bashing, and I think IF have no problem with criticism as long as it can be kept constructive and decent. Problem occurs with few members, who cannot hold a debate without getting emotional, and, instead of using valid arguments, uses fowl and derogatory languages to support their [non]argument. There is where the problem occurs. Criticism involves constructively and logically opposing something. Bashing involves using derogatory comments to further one's view point.

Exactly. But even if logic is put forth, it is still considered bashing. And members tend to take it personally. I am against something on a show, but not against the member.

I second that....but the basic reason i see is that members only get emotional when they are attacked personally else it makes no DIFFERENCE to any at least i don't critism that seriously as a matter of fact if critism is taken in a constructive way it comes to you as a compliment, praise.

True. I have faced my fair share of criticism, constructive and otherwise. And frankly, it would be foolish to expect any design I develop to be just lapped up by the client. Some are kind, some are ruthless.
The issue I see on IF is that if you are against an aspect of a show(shoddy potrayal of women, etc) some members take it upon themselves to 'protect' the show/actor, so to speak.

its true tht many ppl on IF dont even know da diff btwn constructive criticism and bashing.....
we criticize anything in a positive way,so tht we can see some improvement ...but some ppl cant take this..and they even cry..make an issue out of this
they cant even take jokes....
according to them ,we gotta praise their beloved ones 24*7..

and if we dont...report button is their weapon 😳

Very well said that i've seen and experienced here with many members it's pretty annoying at times when people support their favourites and take offnse if someone dislike them or criticise them for some reason😆

I think if someone do Honest Self-criticism n Bashing ...they can enjoy these things,😊without criticism nobody can learn....criticism/bashing make you learn new things😊,...those people dont do nothing in life they can avoid criticism.....😊

Someone says before.....A thick skin is a gift from God.😉

Very well said! Taking my experiences as an example again, I have a few weak spots that need working upon. And I don't mind if somebody points it out.
You just cannot go praising each and every thing. Then there would be NO improvement.

Its very much true that most people on IF dont know the difference between constructive criticism and bashing......the moment anyone criticizes a particular show or some actor many tend to think that as bashing .......if praising someone or the show all the time is what discussion means then i guess we better keep only fan clubs instead of discussion forums 🤓.......criticism can actually help a show to improve i think .

If a member cannot take criticisms positively and lightly, but takes that as a bashing, then that is the member's fault, correct?

Correct. One is criticising the show or the actor, not the member. Then why take it as a personal criticism and go all guns blazing to 'protect' the show/actor.

I think IF mods are doing are wonderful job at least all the times I've seen it happening...

I think it is in human nature, for most of them, though there are a few intelligent like us over here, to get rude once they cannot put their point across... Because they cannot show their worth through genuine opinions or discussions, they get down to such acts... Sad, but true!!

The best way to get back to such people is being sarcastically nice to them... I've done it loads of times... It confuses them because they are being stupid, and finally, though it seems they've won, it is clear who's actually come out better off... ;)
