😕 Aight I had enough of Sandip Soparakar.....The man calls himself an Indian and in the very next breath criticizes all that is Indian.....He finds Bollywood dances weird, he finds Bollywood actors to be less professional then Hollywood actors......He has no background in Indian dances, and his only qualification to be a judge on the show seems to be his expertise in latin/ballroom dances......ummmm a question for Mr Soparakar, If you find all things Bollywood to be so weird, why did you agree to be a judge on a bollywood related show? Just because you worked with Madonna, and Brittney doesn't mean that you have the right to criticize Indian actors as being unprofessional and call Bollywood dances weird......What's funny is that Soparkar will be the first to appreciate Bollywood dances once westerners start accepting them.......Mr Soparakar I love Bollywood dances because they are not carbon copies of your beloved western dances......The only thing weird about Bollywood that I see are people like you who criticize Bollywood every chance you get and yet don't pass up any opportunities to make money from the very industry that you criticize.............😕 He is proud of having worked with Madonna and Britney Spears who by the way have been done as dancers for years now........😕 In his ideal India, every child would be taught latin dances and ballroom dances over Indian classical dances........In his ideal India Bollywood actors would speak Englis dialogues in the movies and there would be no song and dance in our movies.........In his ideal India every bollywood actress would look like Madonna and every actor would look like Brad Pitt.........😕

I doubt he'd agree to be the judge of an INDIAN dance reality show if he disliked Indians, our traditions, our values, our culture etc so much. :S I also don't believe everything I read. I'm sure some bits of the article are true but I doubt sandip would go on to make such statements.

I also think it's unfair to say something like:

"In his ideal India every bollywood actress would look like Madonna and every actor would look like Brad Pitt........."

Instead of falsely accusing him of thinking these things, give the guy a chance. Farah Khan worked with shakira for the MTV awards right? Look how big headed she got after that. (more big headed than she was before) She went on tv to say something like 'I will only choreograph a dance sequence if it is an offer like the one I got with shakira..not a small petty project'. :S

As far as I know, sandip isn't anything like that (or he's a really good actors :S) so I'd say before disliking him based on a single article, judge him on his dance knowledge, choreography, judging skills etc. :)

Ankit, I guess you are over reacting on that article. Sandip found Bollywood dances weird because he felt it's a khichadi of everything. He didn't say it's bad or anything like that. and I do agree with Sandip comments on being professional and unprofessional. It's my observation as well that people in west are more professional compared to we people in india and in west personal things doesn't come in way of professional work. Look all these bollywood celebrities. One hit movie and they start thinking no one is better than him/her. So the comment he made about bollywood actors not practicing enough before the shot OR not really worried about being perfect might be valid. In west people know that there are many ready to displace them and take their place so they don't take things for granted. That's one good thing about people in west and we shouldn't feel ashamed if we are learning a good thing from them and I am sure people in west also learn good things from us when we work with them.

At the risk of generaliztion, I would have to agree. Of course, there are some unprofessional people in the west and there are some very professional people in India....but they are exception to the general trend. People have said that Amitabh Bachchan is very professional and comes to the movie sets on time, sincerely puts in effort to rehearse and get it right....but this does not seem to be the case with many other Bollywood actors.

Nice post Ankit, although a bit harsh. If indeed Sandip Sir did have to say all this about bollywood dances, then I must say I'm highly disappointed in the words he has used to describe bollywood dancers.

So are these bollywood dancers unprofessional?

As much as I dislike Aishwarya, I can't turn away from the fact that she's a fabulous dancer. So are all these 3 dancers (Aish, Rani, and Madhuri unprofessional in comparison to these dancers:

I don't see a single thing that is professional about the two above performances to be frankly honest. All I see is vulgarity. If they are professional at anything, then its their singing. Nothing impresses me dance wise with these two personalities.

India is becoming so westernized these days that we are losing our classical touch nowadays. Its really sad when our own choreographers state the opinions like this. That's all I have to say. Watch the videos and then tell me who are the professional dancers and who are not?

When I talk about professionalism I'm talking on the basis of dance only!
