Welcome to this weeks

This weeks topic is on Dangerous Stunts

Stunts from Sunita's fire dance, Salman's Fire dance, Jai's ropes, etc...any stunt that goes on(lol didnt memorize every stunt!), does it have an effect on kids?

There was an article, where a boy died attempting stunts

posted in this thread:
http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1166563

**btw, in the article it says he was attempting stunts from DID but was later clarified to be from MTV**

Do Stunts of any kind, doesnt matter what tv show, influence a kid to try it out even though they tell us not to?

Here ae soem questions:

  1. Do you think DID should stop with the stunts because of the dangers? Why or Why not?
  2. Should DID stop the stunts completely?
  3. As the show goes on, the contestents need to try new things to prove themselves worthy of staying. Should the Choreographers start following precaution of dangers that some kid out there might be trying to copy the steps?

and feel free to talk about anything else related to the DOTW

See this link for the correct news:

1. Do you think DID should stop with the stunts because of the dangers? Why or Why not?

First of all, not all of them are stunts. Our janta need to learn about the different forms of dances that are there in other places outside India, and this show is a good opportunity for that kind of exposure - thanks to Terence. This will encourage boys to pursue dance as many would otherwise think dance is all a girly thing and it involves classical dances and looking like a female in the costume. However, I would suggest that any act with fire should be avoided by all means!

2. Should DID stop the stunts completely?

Again, they are not stunts, at least not all of them are. There are several forms of dances from all over the world, and the list will be endless... How will our people get exposure to all those - none of them would be going to search in youtube to see all kinds of dances out there, but when they come up in a show like DID, they will watch and learn and also expand their vision and mind, and will also provide a wider horizon for the younger generation who are interested in dance.

3. As the show goes on, the contestents need to try new things to prove themselves worthy of staying. Should the Choreographers start following precaution of dangers that some kid out there might be trying to copy the steps?

If the kids want to copy, they dont have to watch a TV show for it. Most kids have access to internet these days, and so many stunt videos are available on youtube and similar sites! And when it comes to danger, break dances hold a high level of danger - you can strain your neck or shoulder muscles with the fast and robotic moves, you can get hurt easily with the flips and spins, etc. There is danger in all kinds of sports and games, but that doesnt stop anyone from doing them if they want to. It's the same for dance - all dances have some level of danger when it comes to cramps and the like, but it's an art and it gives immense happiness to those who love it.
All these are just IMHO...

Do you know of the poor boy who died trying to emulate the stunts on DID?

No matter how much lecturing MD does, or how much Terence tries to deny that the stunts are all very safe or how much fire and nails Remo and Geeta plays with... the reality is that the uneducated will try to copy these dangerous stunts.

And somewhere, DID is responsible for sending the right message to society.

ZTV has to be more responsible in its programming, because there aren't Only intelligent and well-meaning people out there - but also the uneducated or ill-informed people who will die in trying to copy these stunts.

That news article was false (whose hands are behind the twisting of truth, I dont know). Here's the correct news - you can google for more citations, it was in several papers.

Boy dies while imitating reality stunt show

Lucknow, April 19: Nine-year-old Chandan Singh was an avid watcher of MTV's reality show 'Roadies' and never missed an episode. But Saturday night's episode was to be his last. The boy hanged himself accidentally while imitating a stunt on the show. Chandan, a Class 3 student, had watched the episode where two female contestants, Palak and Phalguni, were made to stand on a wooden stool with their hands tied. A rope was also placed around their neck. Another semi-finalist, Noman, was then given three minutes to save one of them.

'He watched the episode on the third floor of our house along with his friends and tried to imitate the stunt after his friends left. After hearing a loud noise, I rushed to the room and found Chandan hanging from the ceiling fan,' his uncle Bhagat Singh told media persons.

Inspector Jaganath Saroj of Vikas Nagar police station said: 'According to his uncle, Bhagat Singh, with whom he used to live in the Vikas Nagar locality, Chandan never missed any episode of the show.'

Chandan was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by the doctors.

'The incident was reported to us Sunday morning and the body has been sent for post-mortem,' Saroj added.

Chandan's father, a native of Pithauragarh, is a farmer.

Ok, thanks for that clarification.

but i still think ZTV needs to be more responsible in showing stunts, because such a case Might happen, if someone tries to copy the dangerous dances.

there's no telling what people will do.
