Adarsh could not believe what he just heard. Was it a dream? He tried to pinch himself but cringed with pain. No, he was not dreaming.
Swadheenta was looking at Adarsh. He looked totally dumbfounded. Was he alright? Was the shock too much for him?
"Are you alright?... Adarsh... Adarsh
She called out twice
"Will you marry me?"
Adarsh said all of a sudden
"Whoa... that was fast! And I was thinking you were too shocked to reply.
Now it was Swadheenta's turn to be surprised.
"I cannot live without you anymore. Today I realized how much you mean to me. When I came back to my senses, all my loved ones were surrounding me but my eyes were searching for that litti chokha packet that I got for you. Despite being in so much pain I could not rest till I made you taste the litti chokha"
Adarsh was looking very sincere
"Adarsh, now I seriously doubt whether you love me more or the litti chokha"
Swadheenta said with fake anger
"Nooo.. it's you "
Adarsh emphasised a lot on the "no"
"ha ha, Adarsh you are too cute"
Swadheenta stopped just short of pulling his cheeks
Just then there was a knock on the door. Abhay opened it and peeped in,
"Are you two done ? it's been a long time. Mom and dad will get suspicious"
Swadheenta got up to leave
"You did not answer my question"
Adarsh asked
"Please give me some time"
Saying this she left
Abhay entered and asked
"Why are you smiling by yourself? What happened?"
"She said that she loved me"
Adarsh said excitedly
"What is there to smile in that? Simmi keeps saying that to me throughout the day."
Abhay did not get it
"Aah... She said it for the very first time"
Adarsh explained
"Really...now that calls for a celebration. What about a few pegs.. "
Abhay said
"Are you out of your mind? This is hospital for heaven's sake. They won't allow alcohol here."
Adarsh chided him
"But Bhai, we can always set people up"
Abhay tried to reason
"No more of your set ups now. If government servants like us do such things what example will that set for the common people? "

"Achcha Baba okay.. I won't"
Abhay agreed
"Listen, how long do you think you can stop Simmi from telling her mother about me and Swadheenta ?"
Adarsh asked his brother
"You don't worry about that. I have told her that if she talks even a word about it to her mother, I will tell Mom how she burnt her favorite saree while ironing and broke that imported China set while displaying it too her friends"
Abhay said mischievously
"ha ha.. Abhay you are too much"
Adarsh said laughing
"You know Bhai, after a long time I saw Mom and Dad together. They were looking so good. They were talking and smiling but then that stupid Viju called out of nowhere and Mom left Dad alone"
Abhay said quite irritated with Viju
"Chill bro. You are making it look like Mom left Dad for Vijay Kumar. Come on, you have to accept it now. Mom and dad won't get back together whether there is a Viju or no Viju."
Adarsh tried to reason with him
Just then Suhasini and Manohar entered with Simmi. Suhasini walked up to Abhay and gently ruffled his hair
"I am really sorry dear, I shouldn't have shouted at you like at. What to do, seeing Adarsh in that condition I completely freaked out. But I should have understood that you did not do it willingly. I have seen how much you love your brother. Infact this time I acted immaturely."
Suhasini said with genuine guilt in her voice
Both the brothers were surprised at this sudden change. They looked at each other. Was it the result of Viju's call?
A couple of days later Adarsh was discharged from the hospital but he was advised to rest at home. Adarsh lay quietly on his bed. More than work he was missing Swadheenta. Since he could not go out it was not possible for them to meet. He talked to her over Skype but that didn't seem enough.
"Yes mam, you don't need to worry I will manage it."
Adarsh got up on his bed, did he hear Swadheenta's voice? Then he walked upto the door and peeped out. Yes, there she was. Adarsh felt as if he found a oasis in the desert. Oh no. She was coming this way only. Was she in her senses? What if Mom sees her.?
Adarsh moved back from the door as she came and knocked
"Adarsh, are you there? "
She asked opening the door
"How are you? Ssh... Don't say anything. Mam is on her way to the court. She asked me to prepare a case report. The books needed for that were there in her study so I am here"
Swadheenta explained smiling
"I also got something for you. I made it for you with the help of a neighborhood aunty"
Saying this she took out a lunchbox containing litti chokha
Adarsh was pleasantly surprised at this gesture. His girl really cared for him. Then he said mischievously
"But you can see I can't use my right hand.if you don't mind, can you .."
"You are incorrigible..but please hurry up "
Swadheenta laughed and took out one ball of litti to feed him.
"Aah.. Not like that. You have to break it first"
Adarsh was amused
Suddenly they heard a car pull over. Adarsh knew who it was.
"Come on Swadheenta. Hide it fast. It's Mom.
Swadheenta did not know what to do. She quickly took the lunchbox and ran into the washroom.
Suhasini entered calling out Swadheenta's name loudly. She entered Adarsh's room looking all flustered and breathing heavily
"Have you seen Swadheenta? "
Adarsh shook his head
"But what happened Mom? "
"Don't know where this girl went. She is not picking up her phone also"
Swadheenta realized she left the phone in the study
"But what is the matter Mom? You look worried"
Adarsh was confused
"Her father has got a heart attack.. ".
