CHAPTER 5
As the car crossed the gates of the Sinha Mansion, Swadheenta was dazzled by the magnificence of it all. These people are filthy rich. But they don't show it off in the way they carry themselves, understated but classy, both mother and son. Gosh!!! She is again thinking about him.
"So you are Mom's assistant? I have been waiting for you since long . You know I have to go window shopping with my mother. But I couldn't leave till you are done. Otherwise mom would eat me alive. Now come fast."
Here was a walking talking example of opulence. Dressed in a shimmering off-shoulder gown coupled with large showy danglers Suhasini Sinha's daughter in law was ready to go for window shopping.
Simmi took out a bunch of keys and started trying them one by one on the key hole of Suhasini's study. Swadheenta looked at her watch. It was already 12, just two hours left for hearing. Here Simmi was mumbling ,
"I don't understand why Mom needs to lock the study room. What is there in it, other than a pile of dirty files? Who is going to steal those anyways."
"Can you make it a bit faster, please "
Swadheenta was getting restless.
Simmi didn't take this very well,
"No one talks like that to the daughter of Naveen Ahuja. You can see na I am trying my best...Yes, finally it opened. Uff, all my make up got washed away. Now go inside and finish your job fast."
Swadheenta went inside. She started searching for the shelf in which the file was supposed to be. Q... R... S.. T.. Yes T for Taneja. No it was not Taneja, it was Ahuja...or Raheja..
Simmi was in the meantime talking to her mother over the phone ,
" ...Yes Mummy, I saw that bracelet that Makhija aunty had ordered online. It was not that good .That design is really outdated.. "
That's it.!! Now Swadheenta was totally confused about whose file she was supposed to take. Was it Makhija..Taneja... Raheja.. Or Ahuja? Today she was done. She is going to be fired for sure. She dropped on the chair, sweating profusely. It's all because of that Adarsh Sinha. When Mam was giving her instructions about the file, all she could think was how to avoid him if he happens to be in the house.
"Can I help you ?"
Think of the devil and the devil is here!!! Adarsh Sinha was standing right infront of her with a charming smile gracing his lips. Swadheenta could not think of what to say.
"So you are mom's new assistant? Wait. Are you the one who mixed up the files of clients last time causing her a hell of an embarrassment in the courtroom. ?
Swadheenta looked towards the door to see if Simmi was listening and was relieved on not finding her.
"Simmi has gone to put back her make up. So tell me. How can I help you. Did you mix up some files again? "
Swadheenta just gave a stupid smile . Adarsh understood he was right.
"Just wait. I will be back in a minute."
Swadheenta nodded. What was he going to do. Was he going to call his mom and tell her everything ? She hoped not.
Adarsh was back after 5 minutes with two cups of coffee.
What was wrong with him? Here she was trapped in the biggest problem of her life and he was busy preparing coffee.
Adarsh put one cup on the table in front of her and went to a shelf. He pulled out one file from there and brought it to her.
" Here it is. ..'Mr. Raheja. '..This is the name of the client. "
Saying this he sat down on the chair opposite to her.
"How did you do that. ? Have you told her that I . "
"Do I look so stupid? Don't worry your secret is safe with me. I have my own ways to get the work done. Now please have the coffee. It's getting cold. "
Adarsh smiled.
Swadheenta was impressed but didn't let it show. She finished up the coffee in one go and was ready to go.
Adarsh :"Girl, You totally spoiled my coffee date... Atleast tell me your name before leaving. "
Swadheenta : "Swadheenta... Swadheenta Ramakrishnan. Thanks for everything. But I am getting really late. "
Adarsh :"Hmm.. No wonder you have got so much attitude. Everyone wants to have you "
Swadheenta raised her eyebrows at his audacity.
Seeing this Adarsh started laughing.
"Come on... Everyone wants freedom "
"Well that was a very bad joke."
Swadheenta said and left hurriedly.
"Do we meet next for a dinner date? Your treat. I'll be waiting ."
Adarsh shouted behind her . Did she hear him? Will she be ready to go for a date with him after knowing that he was her boss's son ? He hoped against hope that she does.
That night at the dinner table.
Adarsh was still thinking about today's meeting. How cute she looked when she was couldn't find the file and neither could tell him her problem. Did she like the instant coffee date? He was constantly looking at his phone kept on the table . Stupid him. Give her some time. Suddenly he got a msg on Watsap. It was from an unknown number. He took the phone to see ,
Hi
Swadheenta here .
The phone dropped from his hand in excitement. Everyone looked at him . Adarsh picked up his phone and gave them a goofy smile. He excused himself and left hurriedly.
"Don't know why everyone in this house has started behaving so weird all of a sudden "
Saying this Suhasini too left the table.
"Including you Mom "
Simmi muttered
"Did you say something Simmi? "
Simmi hadn't realized that Suhasini hadn't left the hall
"Aah.. Nothing Mom. Just saying that you are so right "
Simmi tried to cover up
"Hmm... Abhay ,did you get the application form for the open university that I asked you to.? "
Suhasini asked.
" Not yet, but I will get them soon "
Abhay replied
"OK.. Do it at the earliest. It's better that your wife applies her extraordinary brain to studies than in other useless things around. "
Saying this she left
"Couldn't you make some other excuse ?'I will get them soon'.
Simmi imitated her husband.
"You know studying is not my cup of tea. Books and notebooks freak me out. God alone knows how I managed to complete my board exams. I hid the chits in every place possible... "
" I know dear. Don't you worry. Mom will soon forget about it. Let's go and find out what Bhai is up to. His face was worth seeing when the message came "
When the couple reached the terrace they couldn't help laughing at the little jig that Adarsh was doing.
"He is toh gone...!!! "
