She is just making him aware of the kind of manipulations and underhanded maneuvers that goes into making a successful political career. The decision would be Adarsh's but Suhasini expects him to agree to being into politics.
There is a problem though, in the process Adarsh is slowly getting disillusioned with his mother.

Hummm. I can see that. He has been suspicious of her actions off late. I just hope that everything Suhasini is doing does not backfire in her face. Their family is broken so much as it is... I hope she realizes that she is kind of distancing her son by trying to indirectly influence him in a way... He is not Manohar, he wont do any wrong, neither will he be very forgiving of people who do any wrong.

Interesting!

CHAPTER 14 - Hide and Seek

"Lover's lane... what an apt name, Isn't it? "
Saying this Adarsh looked at his wife. They were walking down the beautiful trail lined with pine trees holding each other's hand. They had reached the hill station of Kasauli just a day before.

"Really, this place is so quiet and peaceful...wish the road never ended and I could walk by your side like this forever"
Swadheenta was mesmerized.

"The road may end but I would definitely want you to walk by my side all through this journey called life...Gosh, this place has turned me into a philosopher..ha ha"
Adarsh laughed
Then he said,
"Dear wifey, since this place is called lover's lane, we ought to share a kiss here atleast..."

"No way.. this is a public place. What will people say? "
Swadheenta shook her head, quite alarmed at the idea

"No one will say anything.. I am kissing my wife, that too in lover's lane. Why should they have a problem? Anyways, right now no one is around. "
Saying this Adarsh lifted Swadheenta up in such a way that their faces were at the same level.

"Please Adarsh, not here. Leave me please"
Swadheenta said, trying to wriggle out.

"What are you doing? Are you harassing the girl?"
They turned around to find an elderly couple standing there looking sternly at them.

"No sir, absolutely not ..actually this is my wife, and she just sprained her ankle. So I was trying to carry her to the town but she would not let me."
Adarsh explained them followed by a sheepish smile.

"Is he speaking the truth?"
The elderly gentleman asked Swadheenta.
Adarsh looked at her, his eyes beseeching her to go along with his story. Swadheenta turned towards the couple and nodded. who then went their way muttering something among themselves about today's generation.

"Oh, so I have a sprained ankle and you are trying to carry me all the way to the town..fine then. Mr Adarsh Sinha, now you will have to carry me atleast upto the sunset point. Else I will call them and tell that you were threatening me. They have not gone very far"
Swadheenta said mischievously

"Don't you have any mercy on your poor husband. You want me to have a slip disc, carrying you on this mountain trail?"
Adarsh said

"I am not so heavy that you will get a slip disc. Now do what I say else I will... "
Swadheenta threatened.

Realuctanly Adarsh had to do his wife's bidding. However Swadheenta felt pity for him and got down after going halfway. When they reached the Sunset point they became speechless at the sheer beauty and magnificence of what they saw.

The sun had worn a deep orange cloak and painted everything around in different hues of red orange yellow and pink. The majestic mountains and the picturesque valleys looked animated with the lights and shadows playing hide and seek in them. They stood there silently and took in the beauty of mother nature at her playful best.

Later that evening, the young couple was sitting inside a cafe waiting for their order. There was also something else they were waiting for.

"Are you sure the person works here only?"
Adarsh whispered to his wife

Swadheenta nodded,
"Yes, pretty sure. This was the address given in the paper that was inside the envelope along with the newspaper cutting and the picture"

"But I can't see him. What if he has left the job?"
Adarsh was skeptical.

They had opened the envelope that Suhasini gave them only after reaching Kasauli. It had an address, a 4 year old newspaper cutting and a picture. The newspaper cutting talked about the death of a one year old baby boy. The boy's mother and her family insisted that he was killed by his father who was none else but the only son of Minister A.k. Chowdhry. The reporter says that the minister or his family could not be reached. The mother's family alleged that the police was also not ready to take an FIR.
On reading the article Adarsh had said that he had never heard about this earlier. Also the newspaper from where this article was taken was an obscure one. It looked the minister and his party had nipped the issue in the bud.

"Let us wait and see. We cannot approach the people here directly. Otherwise they will become suspicious. Mom has also strictly instructed against it."
Swadheenta reasoned

Adarsh nodded and started reading the menu once again, carefully inspecting the place with a corner of his eye.

Just then Swadheenta started coughing. Adarsh offered her water but the cough still did not stop. He then started patting her on the back. The other customers were also looking at them. Some of them offered her tablets for cough but she declined them saying she was allergic to those.

Suddenly a waiter came and offered her a small paper packet. Looked like there was some traditional medicine inside it. Swadheenta took it from him and looked up. Adarsh too noticed his face.
Here was their man.!

CHAPTER 15 - No one can take my freedom away

"Here, take this madam. It will relieve your cough in seconds. Believe me"
The person told Swadheenta while handing over the packet.

She thanked him and took the medicine. Within moments her cough was gone.
Adarsh too thanked him and said,
"Thank God you were there. That medicine of yours worked like magic. You know my wife is so careless. I asked her not to take ice cream but she would not listen. She has always been so susceptible to cough and it is already so chilly out here. But she reserves all her good sense and logic for the courtroom."

"Are you a lawyer? "
The man was suddenly curious

"Yes, haven't you heard of the Delhi bomb blast case.? Well, she is the one who won it. My wife, Swadheenta Sinha."
Adarsh looked at her with a proud smile. Then asked him,

"Anyways, tell me how do I repay you for this big favor that you have done on us today ?"

"Oh.. No. It was my duty Sir. Actually my father practices traditional medicine. So he has asked me to keep few medicines with myself for emergency situations. I am glad that I could help you"
Saying this he went back to his work

"By the way, how did you figure out that this trick would work? ..For a moment I thought your cough was for real and I got so scared "
Adarsh asked his wife.
They were sitting in the lawn of a quaint British era inspection bungalow. Adarsh had insisted on staying in the inspection bungalow instead of a resort. Since Jaidev was posted in Shimla it was not difficult to arrange for it. It was a beautiful place, with a well maintained garden and lawn. Both of them loved the ambience and feel of it.
The caretaker had arranged for a bonfire also. They were enjoying the ginger tea that was a speciality of this area. Swadheenta took a sip of tea and then looked at him with a smile

"You don't seem to have learned anything from your mother. She always says that we must look at the evidence a number of times until we get all the angles of it.. If you had done that you wud have known. According to the newspaper article, the dead child's maternal grandfather was a practitioner of traditional medicine and he has quite a good name. So I thought he must have taught his sons a bit of his skills too. I was also not sure if it would work, I just took a chance."

"But do you think he is going to approach us now?"
Adarsh asked

"Mm.. I don't know, Mom asked us only to let him know indirectly that I am a lawyer. I think she wants us to fight the murder case for them."
Swadheenta said thoughtfully

"But it has been almost 4 years now. Do you think they still want to fight the case? "
Adarsh was skeptical

"That is a good question. I too did some research on the internet but could not find anything useful about it except the online version of this newspaper article..but if Mom has sent us here I think she believes that they are still inclined on fighting the case. She must have done her own investigation already."
Swadheenta said

"So as of now we can only wait"
Adarsh remarked

Swadheenta nodded. They had finished the tea. The air was quite chilly. Swadheenta snuggled closer to him to warm herself. Adarsh took the shawl and wrapped it around covering both of them.

"Do you know what is complete bliss ? It is what I am feeling right now. Sitting here in this breathtakingly beautiful place, surrounded by snow covered mountains , looking at the even more beautiful face of my lovely wife and feeling the warmth of her closeness"
Adarsh had again turned philosophical.

They sat like that for how long they did not know until the cook called them for dinner.

Suhasini handed over the gun to her husband,
"Take this, it will protect you"

Manohar took it and went away. Suhasini started following him. Suddenly she saw him stopping at the edge of a cliff. A man came there and handed some money to Manohar who in return gave him the gun. The man took the gun and pointed it at a guy who was standing there. Suhasini could not see his face properly. So she went nearer. The guy was wearing a police uniform. She took a closer look and finally saw his face. She could not believe her eyes. It was her son, it was Abhay. Suhasini tried to shout out to him, she tried to run and stop the shooter but she couldn't move. He pulled the trigger. She heard the gunshots and then she saw her son falling off the edge.

Suhasini woke up with a jerk. Another nightmare. These nightmares have been coming time and again ever since Abhay's death. She got up and went to the washroom. What was the matter with her? Why can't she get these thoughts out of her head? Was she loosing it? She hasn't been able to have even a single night of proper sleep due to these nightmares.
Just then she heard the phone ringing. Who can call so late in the night? She went and picked it up. It was Adarsh.

"What have you done Mom?"

"What are you saying? what is the matter? "
Suhasini was shocked at this sudden accusation

"When you knew that this mission could be dangerous why did you involve Swadheenta in it.?..Why couldn't anyone else take this case.? I should have stopped her from agreeing to your proposal"
Adarsh was blabbering like a crazy person

"Calm down Adarsh. Tell me what happened. Are you in some sort of danger? has anyone threatened you?"
Suhasini was worried now

"Mom, I have lost Swadheenta.."
