Expect the unexpected
Suhasini had announced in front of the family that they all needed some time away from the stress of the past few days, and that therefore she had booked them all at a spa cum resort for the night. They would all head home, rest some and leave for the resort. Adarsh and Swadheenta would head there early and check them all in while the others would join slightly later. Maamu and Maami had excused themselves wanting some time for themselves, but otherwise there were no questions asked. Everyone else seemed to be on board with the plan. Swadheenta quickly pretended to pack a light bag for the night and left with them to go home. When they reached home, Suhasini insisted that Swadheenta would enter the house only after performing the gruhapravesh ceremony. Swadheenta being on board with the plan had pretended to relent and offered to wait in the car. Suhasini had suggested that Adarsh waited with her, and had quickly walked in to pack a small travel bag for him. She of-course packed some special romantic items for Swadheenta as well, and smiled to herself thinking of their plan. It had been a while since she felt so lively and she thanked Swadheenta in her heart for bringing back so much peace to her. She walked out and handing the bag to them urged them to start.
It was a beautiful day. They had started driving about 1/2 hour ago. Swadheenta was pretending to sleep just to avoid any questions from Adarsh. She was excited about spending some time alone with him and kept planning her evening with him. Unknowingly she had a smile playing on her lips and Adarsh had noticed it.
What is the reason for your present pretense?
Huh? What?
Why are you pretending to be asleep?
Pretend? I am not? I was just trying to rest for a bit. Also, I need to stop at a medical store for a quick minute.
What? Are you in pain? Do you need some medicines? Why are we doing this resort thing today if you need rest. We can come back later. Maybe it is better if we cancel the plan.
No no. I mean, some fresh air will be a nice change. Since it is already planned, we should go.
Ok. What is the medical store for?
Just some quick medicine that I forgot to pack. And it is a just-in-case thing. Nothing major!
Pssst. This traffic has been so heavy. Mom, dad, Simmi will get tried. Maybe it is better if we ask them to cancel the plan. We have already started. Makes sense for us to get there. But the rest of them are at home. They should stay back. Haina?
Errr. Swadheenta couldn't believe that Adarsh was actually suggesting this. It took her a few moments to wrap her brains around his words and then she responded. Ok, if you think so, I can let mom know.
Yes. Please do. Please call mom and ask them not to bother coming all this way.
Ok. Swadheenta got out her phone to make the call only to realize that she had Adarsh's phone with her instead of her own. Errr, Adarsh, why do I have your phone with me?
Adarsh kept his eyes on the road and continued to drive with a smile on his lips. Adarsh?

Without knowing what to make of it, Swadheenta asked again I mean, what is your phone doing with me?
What is the problem? If my travel bag can have some of your clothes, what is wrong if you have my phone and I have yours? It is all the same.
Swadheenta suddenly snapped her face to look at him. What had he just said? Did she hear him right? Loudly she asked My clothes in your bag?

Swadheenta was feeling something, something new. It felt like a feeling between embarrassment, nervousness, anxiety, shock, surprise and a few other things. How the hell did he know? I don't know what you are talking about. Why would mom pack something for me in your bag?

Swadheenta contemplated opening her side of the car door and just jumping out. Whatever may be the outcome of that action, it would be better than the way she felt now. Giving a few moments to compose herself she asked softly How did you know?
Adarsh gave her a look that reflected extreme surprise Didn't I tell you about my special super powers? I can read your mind. Always!
Not knowing what to say or how to face him, and suddenly feeling extremely embarrassed, Swadheenta kept looking at her hands which were presently resting on her lap. Adarsh looked at her and how cute she looked. He sighed While leaving you room in a hurry I picked up your phone instead of mine. As soon as I realized it, I came back to return it to you only to listen to the conversation the 3 of you were having. It was entertaining to be honest.
Swadheenta was quiet for a minute and continued to sit with her hands on her lap. It took her a whole minute to realize that he had heard their entire conversation, and not once thought to come in and stop her embarrassment. Her present awkwardness suddenly turned to anger at the humiliation she had undergone in front of mom and maami a few hours ago. You knew?You insufferable man. Swadheenta turned sideways to face Adarsh and started beating Adarsh silly as he continued to drive the car. You knew everything and still let me feel this way for so long. How could you?
Swadheenta, stop beating me. Ouch, Swadheenta
And you let me have the most embarrassing talk of my life with mom amd maami. You could have stopped me you moron, you idiot. You..

How dare you play around with my emotions. You saw me getting embarrassed and still didn;t come to save me? How could you?
Pagal aurat. It was only mom and maami. And now, I am driving. Stop disturbing me. If you don't, we won't reach the resort but will find ourselves some ditch for sure.

Swadheenta looked at him, gave him an angry glare and turned her face away. A minute later she was laughing like a maniac thinking of everything that had happened since afternoon. Adarsh joined in and both of them started laughing out loud. Once they had settled Adarsh saw Swadheenta and the nice blush on her cheeks. He didn't know if it was out of embarrassment, anger or shyness, but he loved it on her anyway. He reached out and touched her cheek. She looked at him and smiled at his action. He reached out to hold her hand and spoke as he continued to look at the road and drive I am sorry. For so many things now, that I cannot even count. Even now, in my guilt, I was continuing to hurt you. I promise it was unintentional. But I want to leave it all behind us. I also want a new start, and I want to fulfill every dream of yours going forward. I know you are already giving me that chance, but I want to ask for one more thing before we head off to start our new journey. There is one thing that I am yet to do, and I need your support.
Adarsh, I am with you in anything that you want to do. Anything! You should know that.
