I do remember the Nupur part of the story and I agree that both were in wrong. If you say something unpleasant about someone’s faith you better be able to take it when they retaliate. I was and still am against killing anyone for saying something unpleasant about one’s faith. People’s faith and gods shouldn’t be so fragile they have to kill anyone who dares to say anything against them. No one deserves to be killed for running their mouth. I actually find it laughable when big guys with small brains take weapons to defend religion and god because that’s just stupid. — A mosque and Temple case is in court.— Indian news channel has debate
— Abdul Rehmani and Nupur Sharma is arguing.
— Rehmani bashes Shiva, Hindu God. Nupur retaliates asking would you like if I bash Prophet. Some back and forth between them. (You don’t have to take sides. Both were wrong but both has FOE.)— Zubair picks up Nupur’s argument. Edits a video and circulates it saying she bashed Prophet. Tags prominent Muslim names from around the world. (Mind you, only Nupur’s portion.)
— Qatar and other Muslim brotherhood picks it up and outrages.
— Many Muslims on the streets asking for - Nupur’s sar tan se juda. Burns her effigy. Riots break out. Her and her family has to go into hiding.
— people starts taking side. Some say they support Nupur coz she has FOE. Others say she was wrong.
— Kanhaiya Lal Teli, tailor, had put up a FB status that he supports Nupur, 2 men comes to his shop, beheads him in broad daylight and makes a video)— there are couple other murders of people who posted on social media that they support Nupur’s foe.
— Indian media and most western media condemns but also justifies is by saying it is Nupur’s fault.
Now, I don’t have any side to it. But I certainly don’t believe that someone should be beheaded for saying something in a democracy. A decent country won’t have “beheading calls” on the street with 1000s participants.Zubair unleashed it. But when cities started burning, he never once said - please stop beheading calls and that he doesn’t support beheading. Most Indian left stayed silent.
I think for me I lost faith in left to support FOE. If 1000s Muslims on the street is asking for beheading then I don’t buy the argument that Muslim minority is being persecuted in India.
Zubair has other incidents too where he dog whistles and then the army starts giving beheading threats. He never says once opposes it.
Edit to add: Rehmani who abused Shiva is living freely. Goes to attend seminars and debates.
Nupur and her family is hiding for life. They would never have a normal life thanks for Zubair.
