Hello and welcome to today's T20WC x Ashes collab. You want big hits? We've got 'em. Reigning T20 champs - check. ODI World Cup holders - check. History, rivalry, controversy - check, check, and check (just don't expect Jonny to talk about the latter). This expanded edition of the T20 World Cup is stripping down to its undercrackers for the oldest rivalry in the game*, and there's plenty on the line, as set out in our preview. There's about an hour until the toss in Bridgetown, and lots to catch up on as the tournament completes a busy first week - including another live match, with South Africa and Netherlands bringing their beef to New Amsterdam York. Go check in there and then pop back for more of the build-up from Kensington Oval

Who has the Main Character Energy at this early stage of the tournament? England are the defending champions but already treading a fine line - one we all remember from late last year - after a washout (coupled with an undistinguished display) in their opener against Scotland. Although those who like to look for omens might point to similar results, both times against Ireland, early on during England's successful T20 World Cup campaigns in 2010 and 2022. Australia, meanwhile, are chilled as their captain, Mitch Marsh, after a straightforward win over Oman a few days ago - ready to ride out a potentially partisan crowd in Bridgetown (think Brits abroad) and move a step closer to uniting the ICC belts

Anyway, the teams have arrived at the ground, looks like we have a balmy Caribbean afternoon in store. A little more recommended reading before we get down to brass tacks: Mel Farrell is our boots on the ground, and has run the rule over Australia's seam-bowling Big Three, "a rotating carousel of pressure". She also spoke to Jofra Archer, who had a bit of a cry after making his first appearance on his home ground earlier in the week - and is now set to face Australia for the first time in almost four years. We've also got Matt Roller's excellent feature on Adil Rashid and the legacy he is building by opening an academy in Bradford; and Vish Ehantharajah chatted to Graeme Swann about England's 2010 success in the Caribbean and what lessons Jos Buttler's side can learn

Looks like the Long Island Drop-In might be about to claim another victim, though at least the Dutch have managed to hit three figures today. We can probably expect more runs in the Barbados sun, even if the decks at Kensington Oval have been somewhat capricious, too

The temperature is rising in Bridgetown, and Mel is in situ: "Good morning from the Kensington Oval, which is far livelier than it's been all week. Let's hope it's a bumper crowd and a cracking game. It's very hot and humid and some clouds about but, so far, they're white and fluffy." Matt has also got the live blog up and running, if that's your preferred cup of char

It's the 'Ashes rivals' on show in a Saturday afternoon blockbuster with England probably entering into a must-win game against the confident Australians. Their first match was a washout at this venue but it did give some anxious moments for Jos Buttler's men. Reduced to a 10-over affair, they allowed Scotland to smash their way to 90 for 0 and would've probably struggled to chase the revised DLS target of 109 runs. On the other hand, Australia overcame starting hiccups as they downed Oman by 39 runs. It has been a slow start for both teams and they've both watched a slew of upsets in the other groups over the past few days. Momentum is an often used key word in sport and it certainly holds significance in a tournament as short as the T20 World Cup. The Kensington Oval has produced surfaces on the slower side and today's match is the venue's final game of the league phase. Will we see either team cracking the 200-run code? Toss and team sheets coming up shortly..
