CID Written Update: Hostel Mein Ragging- 1st August, 2015

My most sincere apologies for the delay. Was hooked up with college stuff.

Episode name: Hostel Mein Ragging

Three guys and one girl are talking about the Chemistry course in a college and then they discuss the weekend plan for a movie. That time, something falls down and they recognize it. The look up and are shocked. A guy in a girl's outfit hung from one of the top floors.

CID team checks the corpse and certain marks on his body assures them that it is a case of ragging. The boy's (Vijay) parents arrive at the scene and the father complains that it was because of ragging that their son committed suicide. The principal strongly retorts against this but the mother tells that it had happened earlier and when they had complained to him a month ago, he had promised them in the air that strict action would be taken. Daya sir asks for the other first years and Daya sir takes the first years to a separate classroom to talk to them.

In the classroom, they confess that they have been ragged by some final year students who were over 30 years of age and that the entire college feared their rowdiness. One of the students' name is Sawan. The students say that Vijay somehow escaped the ragging. The flashback shows one guy (Vijay I think) climbing down the stairs but blocked by seniors. He finally goes off. Another guy(This is Vijay I think..sorry) comes and stands frozen. The seniors ask him why he wasn't there in the common room last night. He fumbles but this is interrupted by the warden who warns the three seniors before leaving to the bathroom to attend to a complaint. The scene returns and the students continue to say that once Vijay had lodges the complaint the seniors swore to avenge him. The students were also subjected to wearing lipsticks, feminine clothes and were asked to dance for filmy songs. Daya sir assures that there wouldnt be any more of the mishaps and marches off to the college hostel where the seniors were.

In the hostel, a senior sends two to three juniors on errands like ironing his shirt and to bring him tea. Daya sir comes there.(A nice sarcasm by Freddy sir here) The senior tries to run away but is caught. He takes him to a room where Freddy sir and Jaya bring the other seniors and the juniors. Sawan points out the senior and the senior tells that he does so only because he was told by the leader. Daya sir sends everyone out and holds back two of them and they have a time of their life from Daya sir. The hostel warden comes in and Jayawanti questions him about his carelessness about such affairs. (Another nice sarcasm by Freddy sir). Daya sir brings the two out and they are recognized as Vinod and Ronit by the warden. The other guy who was earlier caught is Vishal. Vishal agrees to tell what happened the previous night. Flashback shows the three of them climbing down to get into Vijay's room but when they reach the landing they find a girl. As they are about to find out the warden sends them off to bed. The three deny knowing anything about the girl and also say that the girl did not belong to the college. The warden says that it must be Mohan, the watchman's work and adds that the girl must have tipped him off and he must have let her in , in his alcoholic state. Mohan is brought in, but he doesnt know anything. The students tell the team about a secret passage and lead the team there about which, again the warden knows nothing. (Freddy sir is well used. Nice comment again). Days sir finds a zip stuck to the small parapet there and tells it must be of a bag. (Heck, how does he know it is of a bag. It could be anything). One of the guys tells that it must be of the girl. A hotel is in the vicinity and the warden tells that most of the students from the nearby colleges have food and drinks there.

The team comes to the hotel and the owner tells the team that he felt very bad hearing Vijay's death. He also tells that Vijay was from a small town who dreamt to become an engineer. He also tells that Vijay had felt uncomfortable in the new city that he often told him that he wanted to go back home. Daya sir asks him about the time of closing of the restaurant and asks if he saw any girl jumping from the wall there. The owner tells that the girl was Sheetal, studying at PNG College. The moment she climbed down with her bag, she was confronted by Romy and there was a tussle and when Vijay entered the scene, the fight got more aggressive. The owner also says that the two studied in the same college.

In the bureau, Vijay's parents are against the CID team to perform the post mortem. ACP sir convinces them by promising to get each and every one of the culprits punished.

In the forensic lab, the two are discussing about the ill effects of ragging. Salunkhe sir puts forth that the students who are ragged must come forward and only then action can be taken. Then they share their experiences with each other. Salunkhe sir sees the Xray and the team comes in. He puts forth few questions like asking the team about how Vijay went to the college to commit suicide. ACP sir answers that he did by foot. Salunkhe sir denies that and shows them the X rays of Vijay's foot and hands, both of which show broken bones meaning that he couldnt even move a step forward. Tarika says that the broken bone in the neck proves that he had not committed suicide but it was a murderer shown as suicide.

Daya sir and team come to meet Sheetal and Romy. Sheetal tells that she had been there only to take Vijay's things because he was too scared of his seniors that he almost wanted to give up studies. The flashback shows Sheetal jumping out of the wall and meeting Romy. The latter asks her what she was doing this time and when she explains, he calls it a lame excuse for meeting Vijay. Vijay comes in the scene and explains but Romy shouts at him too asking why he asked Sheetal to do the job. instead of asking him. Vijay says she was the only friend that he had. Finally Sheetal hands over the bag to Vijay, who tells that he'd stay at a cottage and take the bus in the morning. Sheetal asks him to take care. Romy denies killing him and Sheetal too defends him telling that both of them wanted to help him. Romy tells that he is confused about how Vijay was back in the hostel when he was supposed to be staying at the cottage for the night.

The cottage is a battered one which the teams feels is apparently to show off that no one ever comes there. They find upturned tables which might have been the result of struggle. They find Vijay's ID card, and his clothes. Daya sir confirms that Vijay was dressed with feminine clothes by the seniors in the cottage. Freddy sir also finds a white paper which Daya sir, after smelling tells it to be drugs. They conclude that Vijay must have been taken through the main gate and decide to inquire the watchman.

In the bureau, the watchman continues to deny knowing anything and ACP sir wants a 'Formula 195' to be used. The other members are astonished but then ACP sir asks Sachin sir and Jaya to get it ready. The watchman panics. Sachin sir brings an injection and as though the plan had worked, the watchman agrees to tell everything he knew. He tells that the other night he had seen guys and a girl passing through the gate and when he had stopped them they had told him that it was a guy in girl's clothes. The watchman tells that it was Vijay and when he had warned the guys that he'd complain, he was given 10k rupees to keep his mouth shut. ACP sir demands the name of each person.

We see few people packing stuffs up and when they come out they are met by the team and they turn out to be the first years. They say that it was not their intention to kill Vijay but since he had known their secret, they were forced to do so. They refuse to tell the secret. But Daya sir mentions it and asks them to continue. They say that Vijay had seen them taking drugs and that they were told to torture him in such a way that he had committed suicide. They tell the name of the dealer.

The owner is giving his orders to the waiter when Daya sir enters forcefully and asks everyone to check. Daya sir finds drugs in the sugar container and hands the owner a slap.

In the bureau, he confesses everything. He tells that whenever Dum Biryani was put up outside the hotel, it meant new supply of drugs has arrived and anyone could take it. He says that only because people are buying, drugs come to the market. The students beg pardon but ACP sir shuts them off. Vijay's parents storm inside and ask them all why they did it to his son when he too had come to the college to study and fulfil his dreams. Finally the culprits are taken away and the parents thank the team for keeping up the promise.
